On May 23rd, National Lucky Penny Day hopes you’ll have good luck all day long. Heads or tails, does it matter which side you find your penny?

Years ago a penny was able to buy something. (Check out National Taffy Day – to see what we used to get for a penny.) Today, due to inflation, the penny does not buy much of anything. The metal value and cost of minting pennies exceed their face value. Many nations have stopped minting equivalent value coins and efforts are being made to end the routine use of pennies in several countries including the United States.

Who remembers penny candy stores ????

Good morning Linda. Pop bottles had a 2 cent deposit when I was a kid. A grocery was across from a local school construction site one summer. The workers would get pop and leave the bottles around. I made a little profit collecting them, two pennies at a time. I returned the bottles to the store for candy or soda. Even now, 2 cents in my pocket reminds me how I earned my first money.

Yes. I remember Penny candy. When our family would take a roadtrip, we used to go to the corner grocery to get Penny candy for our trip...tootsie rolls, suckers, etc.

It is also National Turtle day!!

It is starting to thunder
Goody. We haven't had rain in a few days.

Slept in this morning. Got my nails done Came home and cleaned up the kitchen. It's the 48th anniversary of the day Bryan asked me to "go with him"! We're going to go out to dinner at our local Mexican restaurant.
Work is going well in the basement. My ankle is about the same, can't wait to see the podiatrist on Thursday.
My boss has been on a trip to California since last Wednesday and she gets back tomorrow.
My middle daughter is doing well in Colorado and actually went out on a "date" last night and she said it went well. They went to a sports bar to watch the Nuggets get into the finals for the first time in franchise history and the bar he chose was a Buckeye Bar too!!! So that means a lot!
Apparently they really like her at the hospital and they are treating her well and her new landlord is a dream!

Good afternoon & Happy Lucky PENNY Day!
Ready to put a bow on my office day. Will be heading home shortly.

Unfortunately my daughter is splitting from her husband so her next landing spot will be my house for awhile. Have to clean out some rooms for her & 2 of her kids, Grandson who is 15 & Granddaughter who is 11 & a half. Truth be told I've got plenty of stuff that needs to be pitched anyway.
Of course she's wanting to move this weekend & we've had plans to hit the Michigan Northwoods starting Thursday morning with some friends.
Will be attending a Beer & Brat festival while up there. Will be interesting as I'm still on the alcohol free plan. Regardless, there will be music & it's at a nice ski resort that has other activities in the summer so I'm good with it.
