COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2024: Who wants Me???
So my buddy & I are trying to prepare a road trip to a town near YOU to catch a game.
Last year took us down to Oxford Mississippi & the Grove for the Ole Miss/LSU game.
Looking for any recommendations or pholks with connections or comments regarding YOUR home turf!
I've laid out a number of recommendations/possibilities to him for this year in which dates & other logi$tics always are a factor.
As we try & hit a different venue than where we've been before, here are some of the preliminary places I've pegged as possibilities for 2024 in which of some of these are probably longshots:
State College Pennsylvania
Morgantown West Virginia'
Lexington Kentucky
Norman Oklahoma
Stillwater Oklahoma
Clemson South Carolina
Tallahassee Florida
Athens Georgia
Columbia Missouri
Manhattan Kansas
Lawrence Kansas
Seattle Washington
Salt Lake City Utah
Tucson Arizona
Prior destinations have been to:
Knoxville TN
College Station TX
South Bend IN
Dallas TX
Iowa City IA
Atlanta GA
Gainesville FL
Baton Rouge LA
Auburn AL
Columbia SC
Madison WI
Jacksonville FL
Columbus OH
Oxford MS

I don't see Mount Pleasant, MI on your list.
You can catch a game and be home to sleep in your own bed.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2024: Who wants Me???
Coach Gundy has a lot to work with this season!
Lewis Field when I was there
Has grown up to become Boone Pickens Stadium
It's amazing what 40 years and a few (hundred million) dollars can do!
Eskimo Joe's was a tiny little bar within walking distance of the stadium when I was there, like BPS the complex has grown.. They will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year. The place is packed on game day but if you can get in, order the chili cheese fries!
Hideaway Pizza https://www.thehideaway.net/ moved from a small house on 3rd Street to a large location across the street from campus in the early 80's. They have great pizza and now have several locations through Oklahoma. We always order Hideaway on our first night back in Oklahoma to visit family.
My favorite watering hole on Washington Street is gone to make room for the expansion of DuPree's Sporting Goods (a positive change), but there are still a couple of places to get a beer in town. Iron Monk Brewing is a good one, I believe their beer is also available at OSU venues.
American Eagle connects Stillwater with American Airlines at DFW. The airports in Tulsa and OKC are just over an hour from Stillwater and are served by many airlines.
There is a little item of interest to Detroit Lions fans on the west side of the stadium.

But that game against Utah September 21 did catch my eye

I'm not sure how the Tulsa fares compare but Tulsa does have something that OKC does not - Margaritaville!

Another one that's gonna put me on blood pressure medicine. Now, on to Texas A&M. It's going to be a nasty dog fight.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2024: Who wants Me???
I HAVE been to MT Pleasant wayyyy back some 30+ years ago . Thankfully I wasn’t driving as I was farrrr from sober. My wife told me that my buddy who I went with was a bad influence on me. I kinda have to agree. I’m pretty sure I’ve only seen him one time since.
BTW….Chips lost……I think

It's crazy what a win will do for the fan base. Before the game all the talking heads and message board heroes would talk about was firing the coach and benching the qb. Now, we're charting paths to the playoffs.

I beg to differ!!SeattleParrotHead wrote: ↑October 9, 2024 6:19 am You (and I) missed a good one at Husky Stadium last Saturday....
I watched the end of Alabama & Vanderbilt plus Tennessee & Arkansas!
I didn't get to see the very end of the Washington/Northwestern game earlier this year. The image you provided has me asking one burning question. Does UDub have a tradition of charging the field after every Conference victory??
Michigan has many holes in this year's team, and that showed up in spades Saturday. I'd be willing to state if we swapped QB's that the outcome of Saturday's game would have flip flopped. Having said that, Not sure if Michigan will be able to improve to the point of having a "successful" season. Will be interesting to see where Washington goes from here over the next 4 games with a couple trips back here to the Midwest.
Hope your Ireland trip is/has been going well
PS....I was quite tempted to try & make an effort to get out there for the game....and I'd still like to get out there for a game whether or not it's MI/WA. Timing just didn't work for last week. Maybe a Husky/Duck game or a game against Wazoo if they get back to playing on Campus again.

No, but after losing to Michigan (and the refs?) earlier this year in the National Championship game, I think everyone felt a bit redemption. Woof!Dr.Corona wrote:Does UDub have a tradition of charging the field after every Conference victory??
