Video Games THURSDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning:

Today is National Video Games Day

On September 12, National Video Games Day celebrates all the ways we enjoy a good video game challenge.

Video game players across the United States enjoy this day with much enthusiasm. From their very earliest days, video games have been a blend of art form and industry.

On July 25, 1983, Walter Day and the Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard out of Ottumwa, Iowa founded the United States National Video Game Team. Their early games used interactive electronic devices with various display formats. Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. and Estle Ray Mann filed the first patent for an interactive electronic device in 1947. It was called the “Cathode ray tube amusement Device.”

I never got into video games except trying (and I emphasize Trying) to play Mario Cart with the kids when they were young. They loved to beat me :).

Our grandsons have video consoles and Austin even has some kind of VR system -- I tried that as well and i made me sick in the stomach :(.

Good morning, sistah & BN!

Never really did home video games, though we had a cheap Pong game on our basement TV when I was growing up. In the arcade I always loved Ms. PacMan. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

We’re in the middle of a gorgeous stretch of weather so we’ll head downtown for lunch and mischief later.

Happy Friday Eve, y’all! 8)

Same. Tried to play the keet’s Sonic game and couldn’t steer it at all, had motion sickness. [smilie=puking.gif]

Good morning Linda, Nancy, and BN! :)

I was good at Pong when I was a kid. And not bad at Pacman, but that's about as close as I get to video games. :D Cameron still has an amazing set up in his home for games.

I had to use my adult voice this morning with out IT group -- who are pretty worthless. Our timeclock has been down since Monday night, and I'm having to enter everyone's time manually. :-? So far it's about 350 entries I've made, and more to enter today from night and day shifts yesterday. I'm told it WILL be fixed today.

E's father was released from the hospital yesterday. Several new meds and E got them arranged in pill boxes for him. He's coming home LATE tonight. :D :( :D

Off to do some work now.. fun fun.

Good morning Linda, Nancy and Penny.

I was never a video game person. I remember playing Pong because back in the '70s just about every bar on Long Island had a Pong video terminal, but that was it.

Good morning, Linda and Nancy. I was involved only once with a video game at Fort Knox. I was the gunner in a tank simulator used to train tank crews. My BIL, an army captain got me a tank tour and the simulator was included.

I have 2 guys here to spray foam insulation under the house. Before starting, one told the other,"Bad news, I saw a 4 foot black snake down there."

He was kidding. The other guy is a snake phob.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good afternoon.
Did some video game action back in the day....like about 13,870 days ago.
It was fun at the time, but I was far from obsessed about them like many kids & young people seem to be.
Oh well, to each their own.

Enjoy your Friday the 13th Eve everybody!!

I knew it had to happen, but I'm surprised it took so long. I saw a guy wearing a HAWK TUAH t-shirt today.

Hi there! The foamers did the job and loaded their huge trailer up in 3.5 hours. I then broke out my tempera paints and painted some windows at the YMCA in 85 degree heat.

Hi kids!

It is that time in education. Our kids and staff are going down like dominoes with flu, colds, and other assorted ick.

I am staying away as much as I can and upping the echinacea and vitamins.

Glad tomorrow is Friday. I am ready for the work week to be over. I really think I could do the whole retirement gig with some part time work here and there. I am liking my time at home more and more.

Never was a gamer but I do love playing pinball.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

I'm a firm believer in echinacea! I have my share of physical ailments, but maybe 2 colds in 15 years. Same for a touch of flu. And no Covid.. You stay healthy!!

E is in flight. Fingers crossed that the flight stays on course cause it's showing 20 minutes early. :D I'm tired and staying up.. and no adult beverage till he gets home.

Never got into video games... my kids didn't either.
The closest may have been a Microsoft Flight Simulator game that was on a floppy disc included with our Gateway computer!
There was PGA golf one too that my husband played but that is the extent of our household "gaming"

Penny - Great news that your FiL has been sprung and that E is on his way home.
I suspect some celebratory, and well-deserved, adult beverages will be on the menu tomorrow night!
