Re: National Lager TUESDAY @ the MSC
Good morning Linda. Have a safe trip.
I'm not a perky morning person, unless I have to be somewhere early I never set my alarm anymore. I wake up when I wake up. This morning I woke up a little after 6:30. The roofers were here at 7:15. When they were doing the other buildings the noise was bad enough when I went outside. I'm on the top floor so they're right above me now.
I don't want to get hit with flying shingles as they throw them down after they remove the old ones so I decided this is a good morning to stay indoors and do laundry.

Safe travels to you and Kevin, Linda!
No lager here, but I sure could use one after the icy drive in this morning. Most everyone was behaving, except the idiots who drove too fast, or rode my bumper.
But I was only 5 minutes late - so not bad.
Good morning Larry! Good luck with the roofing fun!
Have a good Tuesday, BN!!![:)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Well, Bryan hit a big ol deer
on his way to work yesterday and totaled his car. We had been looking for a new used vehicle for him anyway but...
We went north to the Canton area and drove several and settled in a Nissan Pathfinder with all the bells and whistles. He made an offer and they accepted it so he now has a vehicle.
He has been battling sciatica for quite awhile now and finally had a PT appointment this afternoon. He now has exercises that he is actually capable of doing.
We're going out to the local Mexican restaurant for dinner.

Re: National Lager TUESDAY @ the MSC
Road trip! Mrs SPH and I decided to take a December trip to Lucca to visit friends and to see the town at Christmas time. The most straight forward way to get to Lucca is to fly to London Heathrow (LHR) and then fly on to either Bologna or Florence and then rent a car and drive to Lucca (an hour from Florence and two from Bologna.) The only problem is the up to nine hour layover in Heathrow. Not wanting to spend that much time in the airport, we decided to spend a few nights in London and then fly on to Florence from London City Airport (LCY)(a small airport right in town).
We spent three nights in London, walking around (about 16 miles!) and enjoying all the Christmas displays. The morning we were leaving, Storm Darragh was making its way across Great Britain. We got to the airport about three hours before our flight and then sat there and watched as flight after flight was cancelled. Ultimately, ours was the only flight that had not been cancelled but was delayed as they waited for the flight crew to arrive. From where they would not say, just that they hadn’t arrived. Finally, the dreaded word appeared on the departures board.... CANCELLED.
The British Air representative told us not to worry, that they had already booked us on another flight two days hence. I told him that was not acceptable, and he said he could put us on the next day’s flight, or they could put us on a flight on Vueling Airways (a Spanish budget carrier) that was departing in two and a half hours and was out of London Gatwick (LGW), about 34 miles to the south. It seemed best to get out of town before Storm Darragh hit, so BA put us in a London taxi and off we went. Two hours of terrible traffic later we were at the Vueling ticket counter as the doors on the plane were closing and we were out of luck.
Back to BA customer service counter and their solution was to fly us to Rome and we would take the train up to Florence. Six more hours of waiting and we were on our way to Rome, in coach class on a Spanish budget carrier. We arrived in Rome (FCO) at 1:00 am, took a cab into town, checked into our hotel at 2:00 am, and then checked out at 11:00 am to take cab to the train station. We took the Trenitalia Frecciarossa (a 400kmph train) up to Florence.
To get from the Florence train station to Florence’s Peretola airport (where our rental car was), all you have to do is hop on the shuttle (electric streetcar) that runs between the two placesn (with ten stops in between) every twenty minutes. We bought two tickets and waited for the next shuttle to arrive... a shuttle pulled up and Mrs SPH, clutching both tickets in her hand and dragging her suitcase behind her, climbed aboard and paused in the doorway, waiting for the people in front of her to move back. Before I could do anything, the door closed and I watched as Mrs SPH (and my ticket) swooshed down the street. Oh well, no big deal, I’ll buy another ticket and catch up with her at the airport... I buy another ticket, wait the twenty minutes for the next shuttle, and head for the airport. I get to the airport and my wife is nowhere to be found. We don’t use our phones much while travelling, $10/day each for international calling is a little costly. I’m hoping that Mrs SPH will consider this to be an emergency and will turn hers on so that we can connect, but no.... Finally, she comes walking up to me; after the shuttle pulled away and left me behind, she got off at the next stop and walked back to the train station. As she was walking back, she saw the next shuttle go by, with me standing in the doorway. Laurel and Hardy all the way... she was on the shuttle in front of me and then she was on the shuttle behind me! Finally we made our way to the Avis counter, picked up our car, and headed to Lucca. All is good now.
