Even if you bought the tix from e-bay, you still can;t get in. They check your ID at the door to prevent those lowlife scum scalpers. That p*** me off, because now those tix will probably go to waste instead of to someone (like me) who actualy was there trying to get tickets. DEATH TO SCALPERS! :P

opharbour wrote:I saw on eBay two pairs of tickets to this benefit on eBay for $600. I wrote the person who listed the tickets and asked if the entire $600 was going to benefit the Wiley Children's Memorial Hospital. He replied that it was. A lot cheaper than $5500!

Auction ends in under 4 hours...

Too good to be true... I was at the lottery on Saturday and thought my chance was over. Then I see the ebay listing. Then I get this email...

Please be advised that the ticket you are bidding on is a non-transferable ticket to a private charity event. Because the proceeds from the initial sale of the tickets goes to benefit the Riley Hospital for Children, we cannot allow the tickets to be resold for a profit by third parties. In addition to posession of the ticket, the names of invitees will be checked at the door of the event against a list of original ticket holders. If you purchase this ticket and your name is not on the list at the door, you WILL NOT BE ADMITTED to the event.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I contacted the seller and he claims:

I purchased the tickets and have until Friday to assign names to the tickets for the guest list.

is this possible??

I hope SOMEBODY can finally come up with the truth of this matter. I was assured by the corporate CIP headquarters that these tickets could not be used and they were pursuing legal action against these scalpers. I'm interested to see once and for all if Buffett's people really do release a certain amount of tickets to scum bag brokers. This should really tell the tale of the truth. Keep us posted!

What CIP should have done to make this whole mess a lot cleaner was , since everyone there had to be present for the auction, they should have held the tickets til the day of the event, and done a will-call style .

That way everyone knows a head of time, that if they see tickets on Ebay, that they would be false
