It's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (If you can figure out how to install it.)
Thank you Bill Gates!
The next professional Graphics shop I see using PC's will be my first.

Anyway I think the only thing I would need to make a MAC work on our small PC network is Office X. But it might be out of the budget after spending the $$$ for a MAC. :o :pirate: :pirate:
Ya know, Ladyparrothead and I both love Mac honest to God!!! But if you're talking computers, forget it. As much as I hate Mr. Gates, you just can't beat a PC with "Win XP for Professionals." At least that's what I keep telling myself. Hey, I gotta go. I have to call my son and ask him to come over and see what the hell is wrong with my PC..........
.....DOH!!!!!! "stupid computers...." everyone's been there....
I KNOW what the !@#$%^&*() is wrong with it.
It was designed by Mr. Gates. And yet, XP seems to be the best thing out there ................................................at least for now.

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What happened to all the good pirates???
I guess they all turned 40!!!!!!!!!!! :pirate: :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:
Actually we would both prefer dealing with the OTHER Mac! McAnally

Both have certain things that they are more suitable for.

Macs
Pros
Great for the artsy crowd. In my opinion also the better OS.
Cons
However, Macs are much more expensive and their portablity sucks.

Windows based machines.
Pros
Great portable, easy to train on platform. My 6 year old is already tuned into the look and feel of the windows environment.
Cons
Not as stable as OSX. More susceptible to attacks.

I agree with the exception of portability. My Mac PowerBook is very portable, stable, and never had a problem. Our school has supported PC laptops three different manufacturers. Out of 30 PC laptops only 2 are still operating 3 years later. My PowerBook running strong, and I take it everywhere.

I am using the techie definition of portable. Portability is a characteristic attributed to a computer program if it can be used in an operating systems other than the one in which it was created without requiring major rework.

Ah I see, but I will say that for the home user, macs do a great job of converting files regardless of the platform they originated in.

My first computer was a Mac. back in '87..had them for several years until both the powerbook and imac that I got were total pieces of sh*t. The powerbook literally broke into two pieces, and because Apple had not engraved the serial number on the bottom of it they would not honor the warranty. :x I also had to replace the DC outlet on it within a year.

The iMac I got never worked right, just kept freezing. Wasn't worth the money to me to get it fixed so I went to a PC. Of course work uses iMacs...so I have to deal with that pain.

I loved my macs when they worked...but two duds in a row...and expensive duds at that, combined with a total lack of help from customer service made me not want to buy another one for a loooooooooooooooooooog time. :-?

 I was thinking the same thing! That picture's eyes follow you around the room, but it's cute.
I learned on a Mac but Win seems to be the 'norm'. If I were rich, I'd have both.
Heck, if I were rich, I'd be in St. John now in my vacation home, being massaged by Jorge, the young pool boy who just served me cold shrimp salad and a 36 oz. margarita.

Going the other way is not as easy. When I do not want to take my laptop, I have a jump drive that I carry that contains the application that I utilize at work and another that contains important files and an application that I need to contact our network.

I can only use these on Windows and Linux (Hint my favorite OS)

I use a PC at work and at home. I used to have a MAC but I never will again. I searched for a while trying to find the quotes from the Chappelle Show Popcopy skit when Dave talks about PC, MAC and Linux but could not find them.

On a side note, I do like what Bill Gates has done with his money. He has donated billions to helping eradicate childrens diseases here in America and the world. I saw a listing in a financial magazine that showed the top 100 wealthiest people in the US and how much by percentage of their net worth they have donated and Bill Gates was the toop donor with over (I think) 25% of his fortune given away while the Walton family, who control over $100 billion have donated only 1% of their net worth.

Good point Capt. Bill Gates is not the evil person that the media has led most to believe.

I've never thought Bill Gates was evil. He's developed an empire that is quintessential to the success of business (large and small), education, and government. The products aren't perfect, but they certainly fall within the 80/20 success rate.

Everything I do at work is sooooooooooooooo Microsoft-centric. Partially because of contracts my company has with MS, but mostly because MS offers a large suite of projects that can cover end-to-end business and technology processes.

Do I sound like an IT geek yet?

I am a broadcaster and use both macs and PCs. As far as video, graphics and music, nothing can beat macs. Just being able to easily move files and get into program files is wroth it. PCs scatter crap everywhere and has tons hidden file

Best thing about macs, almost no viruses!

WOW :o this is an OLD thread.

We still use only PC's.... I just started building them myself that way they are stable and have good quality hardware.

I would love to have a Mac to learn, play, use, understand, try.... Im just a computer geek and the Mac is one area I have never tried.
