UNEXPERIENCED!?!?!? That's a bunch of b.s. Sorry UP, but as a professionalphotographer, journalist, print and web graphic designer, I am far from unexperienced. I use my mac to it's fullest potential and hve been very happy for a lot of years with it's performance and stability. I have to strongly disagree with your statement regarding experience. I would go as far as to say that those using mac's are far more self reliant and able to troubleshoot obstacles than windows users. We have to be. We are the few, the proud, the mac users. When is the last time you heard of a virus on a mac? Right, .0001% of the time. Apple has gotten a bad rep for being overpriced and hard to use by windows users for years. An unwarranted rep at that. Just because Bill Gates and company flooded the market with CHEAP machines, everyone bought them. Damn near everyone owns a windows box, thus the reason that hackers and virus makers create their evil for that platform. They get the most bang for their buck. Apple is longtime stable computer platform that those with an artistic outlook on life have come to know and love.UltimateParrothead wrote:To put it bluntly, Macs are for unexperienced people. With OSX now though, Mac has been trying to recruit the power users, but they should stick with the challenges of the windows and linux interface. Yeah -- where's linux in your poll?
It's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (If you can figure out how to install it.)
I don't think that Microsoft ever sold machines. But I could be wrong.Island_Dog wrote:UNEXPERIENCED!?!?!? That's a bunch of b.s. Macs are aesthetically pleasing. PCs are not. Mac also probably likes the extra free advertising.mikess wrote:Ever notice that you never see a PC on TV shows and movies. They are all MACs!

Well, my son would be happy to disagree with you. Gates has done some wonderful things, but it reminds me of the cartoon I saw at Christmas having Bill Gates sitting in Santa's lap saying, "That's right Santa, I want ALL the money." My son believes in OSS that's Open Source Software. Most of the things on my computer are just that. That's free software that does everything that MS software does with no restrictions on what you can do with it, similar to Linux but compatable to Win. Check out BIOSS. (Believe In Open Source Solutions) .combuffettbride wrote:I've never thought Bill Gates was evil. He's developed an empire that is quintessential to the success of business (large and small), education, and government. The products aren't perfect, but they certainly fall within the 80/20 success rate.PHBeerman wrote:Good point Capt. I searched for a while trying to find the quotes from the Chappelle Show Popcopy skit when Dave talks about PC, MAC and Linux but could not find them.
On a side note, I do like what Bill Gates has done with his money. He has donated billions to helping eradicate childrens diseases here in America and the world. I saw a listing in a financial magazine that showed the top 100 wealthiest people in the US and how much by percentage of their net worth they have donated and Bill Gates was the toop donor with over (I think) 25% of his fortune given away while the Walton family, who control over $100 billion have donated only 1% of their net worth.
Everything I do at work is sooooooooooooooo Microsoft-centric. Partially because of contracts my company has with MS, but mostly because MS offers a large suite of projects that can cover end-to-end business and technology processes.
Do I sound like an IT geek yet?
