I met Fingers in Key West at MOTM's. What a nice and down to earth guy... Better off on the road the way he is now... More freedom.

Maybe, if some of the boarders that have been around awhile give a few details, instead of acting like everyone knows the deal, the thread will fade away.
From just reading the thread, it sounds like Fingers may have a substance problem that he has to deal with, and Jimmy may have had enough.

No it won't, because after everyone knows what's known of the deal and moves on, someone new will come along , not bother to search here or COBO, think it's never been discussed and ask all over again.

Well, Lime Lee, I did what you suggested. Going back to 2002 (that's as far as it goes) The Conversations then are the same as it is now. The one "in the know" consider it and old and dead subject, and do not provide any details for the split. Meanwhile, us "newbies" are sctratching our heads, craving knowledge from the elders.

We have said it before, but what's one more time. The reason those of us "in the know" don't post the reasons why it happened is because it was told to us in private and would be a violation of that trust. Not because we want tease and sound omnipotent.

Although I think there's certainly enough information out there for reasonable people to draw their own conclusions... here ya go:
What happened to Fingers?
He left the band.
Why did he leave the band?
Depends who you ask. Cobo has Finger's version, and the recent interview with Fingers posted in the news section has more of Finger's side of the story. Jimmy's never publically stated his side of the story on record for Parrotheads to hear, so you're on your own there.
Will he ever rejoin the band?
Guess that's between him and Jimmy. Neither one has stated on the record what it would take to make that happen, so feel free to speculate. But understand that it's just speculation without Jimmy's side of things.

Agreed.
And even tho some of us may know the reasons, it is also a personal matter - and if they wanted it known to the public - they would have publicised it themselves.
It is a personal matter and should stay that way until they want it otherwise.
