Heck I look forward to a Jim Morris cd more than a JB one...but don't tell Jimmy ok?

I even enjoy a Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band show more so I guess I'm already prepared for Jimmy's retirement.
But Jimmy's still rocks and has got the parking lot parties on lockdown.

First of all Gumbo - love your pic of Will!! WE NEED MORE COWBELL!!!
2nd - Kenny is on my top 5 of celebrities I would do.... can't help it - he's sexy AND you have to admit - he has a good voice, sound and damn he looks good on the beach with no shirt on, tan, muscular.... I think the men maybe jealous. I've been to Kenny's shows - they are already starting to have a tropical feel. Maybe Kenny is Jimmy's love child. All I know is that when Jimmy stops touring, and after the therapy has helped, I will need something to console me- But for now I will stay in denial.. and wonder why you all are talking this crazy talk bc Jimmy wil never stop touring

I haven't attended a Buffett show since the mid-90s so it would affect me only in the sense that there would no longer be an opportunity to see him perform. That would be bad but not life altering because even though I consider myself a fan, I'm not a "follower" of any particular band. I'm a Dead fan too but I never attended multiple shows so their demise didn't have any sort of life changing affect on me either. Of course it's sad that they're no longer around to see, the same would be true of Buffett but it's not like I'd have to find some new artist to take his place.

This topic scares me, no Jimmy would probably cause me to go partially insane, I will always have his music, but not having hte summer tour to look forward too will be disastrous.

Jimmy has always been more about the journey than the destination anyway. When the tours stop I think we'll realize that being a parrothead is forever... a lifestyle...a mindset... a license to chill for that matter. And we'll continue to find ways to celebrate tour or no tour.
Not to fear though- JB's not going anywhere just yet. He's got at least another five years of tours (or possibly setting up a permanent home show somewhere) before he sails off. He mentioned not too long ago that if Paul McCartney can be touring at 61 there's no reason why he can't go til he's 65.
So Phins Up and CHEER UP mates!!!

I don't know how much can be read into these "on the spot" comments from the stage, but right before the final encore at Fenway, he said, "20 years from now when it's all said and done, we'll look back and go, 's***, we played Fenway Park!'"
That would mean he tours till he is 77-which is possible but unlikely. My personal feeling is that he'll do the "regular" tours for anywhere from 2-10 more years. Then, he'll settle down and still do occasional shows similar to the benefit shows that he does now.

I mean "Yeah" What tallship said. You have responded to every post I have visted here, with some amount of self assigned authority. But the whole "Parrothead" Phenomon(spelling?) is no big deal?----Not critcizing--just confused.

I never referred to Buffett as a "whatever" anywhere in that post so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I'm just saying if he quits touring it's not going to cause me to have to find another artist to "follow" because I never really "followed" him to start with. I've attended my fair of shows over the years (10-12) but dropping my life in order to follow him was never that became a priorty. I made a comparison to the Grateful Dead as well. Of course their demise was sad but nor did I feel compelled to find some new group to follow just because of their absence.
It's a very short list but here's some artists similar to Buffett that I enjoy seeing in concert:
Todd Snider
John Prine
Guy Clark
One day I hope to add Jerry Jeff Walker to that list but I haven't had the pleasure yet.

My 2 cents:
It seems to me that the CRB grows yearly (hell, Jimmy forgot to introduce several at Fenway on 9/12), so that eventually the show will become
'Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band'
It will start when Jimmy has to skip a scheduled date or two due to illness or issues with special guests filling in.
With so much stacked talent, and so much experience playing and singing background on most songs, I bet the CRB would be up to touring without Jimmy. I am sure Mac, Peter and others could switch off on favorites and maybe add some of their own.
Long live the CRB.

I enjoy living in the now and therefore will make the most of today. I plan for the future by socking away money so I don't have to work until I die (assuming I die of old age). One way to die of old age is to not think about "what ifs." A quote from Kid Rock to Uncle Craker comes to mind right now . . .

5-10 years??? hopefully in about 15-20 years instead. lol

As long as its music I can dance to, I will be there!!!!!

Don't put down a Kenny Checney concert until you've tried it. Just go and tailgate and you might end up liking him as much as I do. It's deffinitely not a buffett concert but it's the next best thing.
