Sorry I need to close my office door, get some dinner and a drink before I read Ports lonnnnng entry and then start one of my own :D . Tommy Rockers isn't happening so I won't waste any more time on that dump. I have my Flamingo key from the last time I stayed there (October) so We should be able to get into the pool Friday. (Unless they changed the look of the key if so we can tunnel in, Ill pack a shovel)
We are staying at Key Largo. As far as flights, I agree take the red eye home, it does s*** but you will be saving some good money. We arrive at 10am on Friday and leave at 11:30PM on Sunday. Rather than checking out at 11AM on Sunday we paid for the extra night at Key Largo it was only $35 and it will be well worth the extra time in bed . I have seen Buffett in Vegas 2 times and the MGM party was so good the first time (April 2000) all the rides were open, and there was more room to move around, last time all the rides were closed, it was very crowded and the drink prices high priced and watered down and the heat didn’t help. With that said it was still a good time hanging out with the BN crew so I will go to the MGM pre-party but not as early as I did last year. I also made the big screen during Changes In Latt…. with a few friends that was well worth it. Vegas is a must do so every effort should be made to get there I have been to LV 5 times in 2 years (This next trip will be my 6th) and it gets better each time, there is nothing like seeing the slot machines i teh terminal as you deplane, you know you are in Sin City. There is also a Great bar on the strip near the Flamingo out doors at Harrah’s called Carnival. The bartenders do all sorts of bar tricks, spinning abd flipping bottles, give free shots away several times an hour and at night they have outdoor blackjack. I plan on spending some time there Friday afternoon. So let the countdown begin. 1,248 hours!

Monorail from Flamingo to MGM

I stayed at the MGM a couple of weeks ago (Righteous Bros Concert) so you know how old I am. I think that monorail is down until next summer as they are extending all the way to the Stardust.

Maybe us "oldfolks" will see ya'll around town in April.

The best thing about a concert in Vegas is, after the concert you're still in Vegas.

I'm staying at the Key Largo. How will I recognize everyone from this board. I will also be in Vegas April 7-10 and staying at the Flamingo, so I too will keep my key to gain entrance to the Flamingo pool on party weekend.

Thanks for all the travel tips guys....but here's the other part of my dilemma. I would be traveling with my husband who is a nonparrothead (yes, I married him anyways, and no, divorce is out of the question!)
His sister is living in Vegas right now, so perfect, right? Free place to stay! Well, he is also starting a new job on St. Patty's Day so getting time off will be rough. He doesn't get why we just have to go to Vegas that particular weekend, now we all get it, I know, but he just doesn't and I've given up on trying to convert him! So convincing him that we must go that weekend and fly out on the redeye is not very likely!
The more I type, the less likely it seems like I will be able to go to Vegas in April! Maybe later in the year for the opening of Margaritaville out there! But it just won't be the same. :( :( :(
I've got a bad case of cabin fever too and was so looking forward to an early Buffett vacation, but it looks like July in Virginia will be my first Buffett encounter of the year.
I think we should throw a pity party in my honor!

BuckeyePH,
My wife has been to six Buffett shows with me and she's not a PH either...by the way...she is an OSU grad and from the Dayton area....I suggest you tell Mr. Buckeye PH that you are traveling to _________ (fill in the blank with his favorite destination); before you get on the plane stop at the Airport bar, buy him a few of his favorite spirits and get him on the plane to Vegas. Once he is there, he'll have so much fun that he will forget everything it took to get him there!! Good Luck.

See, it's my own damn fault! I should have just been like hey April 25 seems like a good time to go see your sister! And then when we got there I should have been like "What??? Jimmy's playing here tomorrow? What a surprise! See you Sunday!!!"
I've tried to get him to come to a show and he just won't do it. To give you an idea of what he likes...he just got field tickets for Metallica, Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park at the OSU stadium in July! So we have somewhat different taste!
Matt, I usually do just leave him at home, but this time he says he will be mad if I go without him! What's a girl to do??? :( :-? :x  :wench: :o
Oh well, someday I will...........

Mrs. Port has been mad at me a few times...I know it's hard to believe. She got over it. Time to draw the line in the sand!
Repeat after me..."I'm going with or without you."

The second best thing about Vegas...

"What ever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"

And most of the time that includes my money!

I am staying at the key largo and look forward to meeting you all, i will be wearing my Idaho license plate that reads "FINS UP". So come up and say hello, because parrotheads are few and far between here in boise. Anybody see me on the screen during CILCIA the last couple years????

I am sorry that Port and BOR have had bad experiences at Tommy Rockers in Vegas. I have been going to the Vegas concert since about 1996 and we have been to Tommy Rockers everytime and we have loved it. I have a friend of mine flying in from Maui who is playing at Tommy Rockers on Friday night (erik Pietsch) ...www.thewhaleshark.com

He is awesome. He will also be playing in the central valley in Modesto on April 5th if anyone wants info p.m. me.

The pools at the Flamingo never really close. There are no gates and the pool and spa are open all night so no need to tunnell in!!!

Will see you all at Key Largo and Tommy Rockers!!!!

The Idaho boys will be comming over by Motorhome this year. Staying at the Key Largo about 10 of us. I say screw the MGM park. I like bikinis but not cheesy shows at my partys. Parrothead girls in bikinis are fine but not studio 102 or whatever it was. Key Largo should be the home of the party. I call all Parrotheads to boycot MGM and make Key Largo the official party center. Unless u like getting those little red tickets for yer food and booze..i for one do not..all i have to say is the taxies better be ready to transport alot of drunk ass parotheads to the show from the key largo..see ya all there and a quick note for that guy from idaho with the licence plate around his neck..i challange ya to get on that big screen again sir..and u better bring yer a game cause its time to push pass that wall.....come visit the treasure valley parothead club at the motor home with the idaho flag flying ...margaritas are on us!!!!!!!!
