Port paid what he thought was fair (not through this board) for tickets to the GW show, and he will get to see the show. He was lucky enough to get an extra pair for free! So now he gets to see the show from a much better vantage point at no additional cost!

Now how he chooses to unload his original pair is entirely up to him (assuming they are for the same night). Let's say he sells them for half what he paid, I wouldn't consider him out that money, but rather having the opportunity to see Jimmy from the first 10 rows at half the price he was willing to pay in the first place! (Glass half full).

But let me ask this. Suppose he did sell the extras to someone at face value. And then that person for some reason could not use them. Would you expect that person to return them to Port for what he/she paid, sell them to someone else at face value, or put them on E-bay and make a profit?

Just stirring the pot a little!!

(BTW, I'm sure Port will do what he thinks is best. I'm just using this as an example because we are all jealous that we didn't win front row seats and have the problem of too many tickets! :D )

(Glass half empty) I'll go the other way with this. You consider that he isn't out any money. If he sells them for half of what he paid his free tickets now cost him $100 :( Sell them for what you paid and get all your money back and don't feel guilty for doing that.

I've got to dissagree with PA on this one. If I want to get back what I paid, and the person I'm selling them to thinks they are worth the price I paid why should I not be able to recoup all of my costs? That being said why shouldn't I be able to sell them to someone who by being on this board I would think would be a "real" fan. If someone doesn't want to pay what I paid don't buy them, but don't limit my ability to do so.
So far I have seen two really good ideas brought up by this discussion. First, I think you should have to be a registered user to post. That way if we found some abusing the rules we astablish we could block thier IP address. The other one being no "best offer" ads allowed. If you want to have an auction try www.ebay.com.

PA - - Lets for an example say someone bought 4 tickets on eBay for $150 ea. a few weeks later they found out they can't go to the show because what ever reason, What should they do with their tickets? Sell them for face and take a huge loss?

The point is Port won tickets meaning he should go for free not see it as paying half price for tickets. He should be able to list his tickets for what he paid for them, less than he paid or more than he paid. I think to many people get caught up in this "real fan" - "true fan" crap!

OK first of all "ouch". If my math is correct, that is a big bite for what Port paid.

Secondly, I am all for people getting back what they paid for tickets, no problem with that.

But last year, I had a pair of pavilion seats and was planning on sitting on the lawn. I know a lot of people prefer the pavilion so I was willing to exchange the tickets for lawn seat for the difference in face value ($15 each). One person contacted me and said that since they had paid $100 for their lawn seat they expected an even exchange. To be honest, I was less concerned about the money, but the fact that broker's price became the new "face value" left a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't blame them for trying, but I'm sure the $15 they would have paid me was a lot less than what they would have paid a broker for an upgrade.

Not sure what that means or even if it is applicable to this conversation. Just felt like venting a little bit. For some reason I felt like the bad guy in that connection.
