houston, tiki kickoff
well, the big tiki time kickoff is vast approaching. i just wanted to get the low-down from anyone else who will be attending this party. suggestions on how early to get there? this will be our first time at the woodlands pavillion, and our first huge tailgating experience (for those of you who have been to any new orleans shows, you know the tailgating is almost non-existant due to NO PARKING LOT). just look (or smell)for us, we'll be boiling shrimp all day long....feel free to come try out some south louisiana cuisine

Ah NC, you won't be tailgating at the Pavilion--all the parking lots are private and no outsider can park until after 6 PM. And if you decide to park at the Woodlands Mall, you will be chased off my security guards on horses.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:well, the big tiki time kickoff is vast approaching. i just wanted to get the low-down from anyone else who will be attending this party. suggestions on how early to get there? this will be our first time at the woodlands pavillion, and our first huge tailgating experience (for those of you who have been to any new orleans shows, you know the tailgating is almost non-existant due to NO PARKING LOT). just look (or smell)for us, we'll be boiling shrimp all day long....feel free to come try out some south louisiana cuisine

So, I don't know where you plan to boil your shrimp, but you better have an alternate plan.
There is a preparty at Papa's Ice House just a few miles from the Pavillion on I-45. I will let you know more info when I get it.
Hope to see you there!!!

SpringParrot -- is there something different about parking at the mall? We've (along with a TON of other people) always parked there and then walked over for concerts at the Pavilion.
Just curious so that I can know what to expect if we need to do something different...
And 12 lb. - welcome to Houston from another native Louisiana-ian. Unfortunately, the powers that by in Houston don't really understand the whole tailgating thing like we do in South LA.

We don't race, but have attended races all over the country.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:springparrott,
youve been to the old southland dragstrip eh?? yeah, they tore that thing down long time ago; it wasnt long enough to keep up with the faster cars, and the grandstands werent big enough for the huge crowds. how much are you into drag racing? because i drag race myself - super comp
We used to help with a top fuel car, but that was about 20 years ago
We will be going to the race at HIR in April.
And TigerStripe.
Yes, you can park in the mall parking lot, but they still won't let you tailgate. You can park after 6, but can't make an all day affair of it
The men with horses will chase you off--they did us last year
