Hello all! I'm in search of a bit of help...and this seemed like the perfect place to get it. I am a reporting major at the University of Florida, and I am writing an article about Parrotheads (and why they're among the best fans ever). I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me by giving me some stories (for example: driving/flying hundreds of miles to catch a show, crazy things you've done to meet the man himself, etc.) I'm also looking for a few responses as to why you think Buffett is so amazing. Thanks in advance for all your help!
Stephanie

Keep in mind your responses may be published, so if possible, please include your full name (first and last), city of residence, and age when responding...or provide an email address where I can contact you for the information!
Thanks again!!!

Hi Stephanie! so glad to hear that you think buffett phans are the best ever.... Because we are!! I think the reason we all love JB is because we are firm believers in buffettism. A distinct form of escapism, JB lives the life we all dream of and allows us to also live it through his music. On a snowy day in Worcester MA(where I go to college) when winter has caused the sky to reach it's darkest grey, I am consoled with the knowledge that all I need to do is put on a JB CD and i'm quickly transported to Key West, or some other tropical destination where all parrotheads belong and long to be. Parrotheads are the best phans ever because we know how to party!!!! we aren't like other Fans that when they hear a concert is coming don't think of it until the day tickets go on sale. Around where I live the concerts are at the end of august and on the car ride home we begin planning for next august. It's impossible to explain why Buffett phans are the best, we just simply are hands down the best! This is why every year I make an anual trip to the buffett mecca KEY WEST, and when i get out of college in 2 years i'm moving down there to teach with my best friend and I will be followed by my parents when they retire. Buffett music will always start a party, however the PHANS are what make the party WILD! you can reach me at mdrouin@worcester.edu
I have been drunk now for over two weeks, I passed out and I rallied, and I sprung a few leaks!!! Ahhhh the life of a college parrothead gotta love it!

I totally agree w/ BEG, but I'll try to add some more to it:
I was a late convert to Parrotheadism as I didn't actually "discover" Buffett until 1997. After my 1st show in Cincinnati during the summer of 1997 though, I was completely hooked and my life hasn't been the same since!
I am only 24 years old, but I've been to 20 shows since that 1st one in Cincy and I currently have tickets to 2 more this summer. I actually work a 2nd job just to support my Buffett habit. I go to at least 3 shows a year, but last year I got lucky and saw Buffett 6 times. I'll drive to shows 8 hours or closer to my home (Lexington, KY) and I fly to Tampa each year in Phebruary for my winter Buffett fix. I would fly to other places to go to shows given the opportunity, but work and school (I'm a graduate student) prevent it. My goal was to go to 20 shows before Buffett stopped touring. I met that, so I have to set a new one (perhaps 35?).
It's almost impossible to descibe what it's like to be a Parrot Head to someone who doesn't understand. I firmly believe that you either get it or you don't and I'm thankful that I get it!!
Basically, Parrot Heads are an amazing and diverse group of people with a common love of Buffett's music and tropical lifestyle. Yes, we do make Buffett's concerts all-day events. Yes we wear Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, flip flops, and funny hats and don't think twice about it. But at the same time, there is so much more to it than the crazy outfits and concerts that link Parrot Heads together...

see if I can sum it up this way. Last weekend here in So. Cal we had a beautiful, atypical spring day. Not a cloud in the sky, warm breeze and the sun still tillted in winter mode was blazing down rays of welcomed sunshine. I pulled out the lounge chair....stripped down to tanning mode, got my cd player out and snapped bubba in place. There is nothing like a live album to get me going. There I lay in that half awake place where phantasy and reality meet. I was immediately transported to the parking lot at Verizon amp. in Irivine. All the smells, sights and sounds of that experience were alive in me once again. I was transported back in living color to the aroma of bbq'd hamburgers, blenders grinding out that frozen concoction, gentle wiffs of suntan lotion breezing by. Total and complete escapism at its finest. Nobody makes that happen better then Jimmy
