Chicago Ticket Question

I'm not sure if this should be here or in the "ticket" forum.
Can anyone tell me how quickly Chicago generally sells out "lawn seats"? I'm most interested in lawn seats for Saturday.
Also, how is the venue in the "lawn"? I've gone to a lot of the smaller venues like St. Louis and Nashville.

I've been on the lawn for the Chicago - Saturday shows in 2001 and 2002. It was a little more active than the lawn at JB shows I saw at Riverport, but I never really felt crowded.
I always went to the pre-party at Keys and rode the bus, so I can't really compare the tailgates. Chicago has been a great party!
I got my Saturday lawn tickets in the first hour they were on sale, I really don't remember how long they lasted.

Thanks for the information. We're definitely going to try to make it up there for the Saturday show.

In the initial frenzy of ticket buying, the show will "sell out" in less than an hour, but after Ticketmaster weeds out the bad credit card orders, more tickets usually show up a few weeks later. I've also found that if your willing to risk it, you can go to the parking lot the day of the concert, do a little partying, and score some tickets at cost or even less. Last year I got two lawn tickets for the cost of four beers.

Not a bad deal at all for $36 dollars. This year im sure the beers will be 10 bucks each. Sad to say, but i remember when beer cost $4 bucks a glass there, and thinking to my self why in the heck am i paying 4 bucks a beer.
