What would you pay?
As I am new here, forgive me if this topic has been discussed before. However, from reading some of the past posts here, I am curious as to how much my fellow Parrotheads would be willing to pay to see Jimmy in concert? Don't worry, I'm not selling my tickets to the August 30th show in Boston! I just wondered where everyone draws the line. For me, assuming I couldn't buy tickets when they went on sale, I would be willing to pay $150/each for even the worst seats. My last show, April of 2002 in Raleigh, I paid $75/each on Ebay. Money well spent, and much less than I was prepared to pay.

TVC I also bought tickets on e-bay which isn't popular with a lot of folks around here. I have been very lucky price wise and usually pay between $80 and $90 for pavilion seats. If you watch and bid wisely you can do OK. Last ones I got were aisle seats and really nice. Some sellers do a buy it now at a fair price which saves a bidding war.
Unfortuately I don't ever seem to win with ticketmaster.

Face value + ticketmaster charges.
By the time I fly somewhere to see a show, get a room, food and drinks, the actual concert ticket is only a small part of the cost for me.
I've almost always been fortunate enough to get ticket from TM, from a parrothead at their cost, or in the parking lot at face value or less.
The one time that I didn't, I stayed in the parking lot in Cincinnati for a tailgate party that lasted until well after the show!

Like Elrod JB does not see fit to play in my town I have to travel to
catch a show, We use the show as an excuse to travel but the fact
is that I can afford more than my travel partner can so we get the least
costly tickets we can find. We got Denver tickets behind the stage
and we'll have a great time . Of course I would love to sit up front
and down close (or maybe not I'm a bleacher bum at heart)
I mean at an outdoor show the lawn is where the fun is .
Any way the cost of a show as a couple of vacation days, plane tickets,
hotel, rent a car, tickets, new shirts, and to use a well worn phrase
A Buffett show with my sister PRICELESS

I paid $80 to a broker for lawn seats in Atlanta last year which was well worth it, even though the seats were $40 after TM charges. I paid $60 (+$15 S&H) on eBay for lawn seats in Nashville in 2 weeks. And I paid TM for my Boston tix 8/30. I live in Charlotte NC, my wife called the local TM number when Boston tix went on sale. Automated voice response asked her what show then which venue. She mumbled something and was directed to Texas TM. Texas got us reserved seats for Boston. Now I get to see him on my birthday!!! Woohoo!!!
Bottom line: I will do what it takes to get tickets. I see nothing wrong with eBay considering ticket brokers (legal scalpers?) charge ridiculous prices.

For the last 5 years we had to buy tickets from Ticket exchanges or eBay for the Nissan show. (TM finally worked for us this year!) Worst we ever paid was $80 for a $27 lawn seat. Can't imagine that I would pay the broker prices, but then again I've never had that left as my only option.

It really depends on where I go. My friends and I usually show up the night before or the day of the show WITHOUT tickets. But you know what---everything always works out! It just depends on the type of scalper and different cities, for example:
Atlanta: probably never go to a cold weather show there again, I could barely find a ticket and when I did the price was ridiculous!
Nashville: Nice scalpers but a little pricy, tailgating is weak
Chicago: Rude scalpers and very pricy, tailgating is even weaker
Cincinnati: This is paradise! I live a little over an hour from Cincy so we always arrive the day of the show and just start getting crazy with some wild tailgating! Pavilion seats for my frineds and I have been purchased two hours before the show for the last 4 years for no more than $60 each

The most I've ever paid is $125 each for GW lawn seats. The most I think I'd ever pay is $175.
I usually budget about $300 for the day. If I get tickets at cost or close to than we're eating lobster and little necks and drinking sam adams. If I pay the scalper prices we eat cheeseburgers and drink sam adams (some things you just can't be cheap with and beer is one of them!)
Last year my tickets were a birthday gift so the $300 was spent on building a bar, and booze and beads to give away.

Indecision may or may not be my problem....
