Does anyone remember the a concert in the '70's??

Post by Rlynng »

Help - this has been driving me crazy for the longest time... I remember going to a concert in the Washington DC area (the old Capitol Center) in the mid-late '70's where Jimmy was the opening act, but for the life of me I can't remember who the headliner was!! Can anyone help?? Who was Jimmy opening for way back then??

Thx

I wish I could help you, but at that time I would have been about 5 years old. My mean parents wouldn't let me go to a Buffett show so, instead, I stayed home and played with my Lincoln Logs. :D
Today is the tomorrow you spent yesterday worrying about. Was it worth it?

That's my guess!!! I know my dad went to see the Eagles here in OKC in the late 70's and Jimmy was the opening act.

Now that you say that, I think that's it! A good friend always tells me about the time he saw Jimmy as the opening act for the Eagles...don't know about the venue, but the time period is definitely in the right ballpark! :D

Jimmy most definitely opened for the Eagles on their Hotel California (1977 - my 1st concert) and The Long Run (1980) tours (I have a picture of him standing to the side of the stage while the Eagles were on, holding an infant Savannah Jane). He also played a concert with Little River Band, Pablo Cruise, and 2 other bands that slip my mind at this time. I think he was 3rd to play. These concerts were in Miami but it would probably be the same in DC. Oh yeah, Andrew Gold (Oh What A Lonely Boy) opened the 1977 show. Jimmy was 2nd.

I saw Jimmy open for the Eagles in '77 at the Orange Bowl in Florida. Can't say I remember much of it, but I know I saw them. 8) (boy, was there some great columbian cigars fresh off the boat - those were the days)

Angel,
That was my first concert, but it wasn't the Orange Bowl. It was at Miami Baseball Stadium, July 2 1977. I remember it well. (Can't remember what I had for dinner last night, but I remember that show).
