Billboard's Review of Meet Me In Margaritaville

Post by meisinger »

Read Billboard's review of Meet Me In Margaritaville

I agree with his assessment of how the songs sound. As I have stated here before, the overall package is outstanding. He makes no mention of the photos, liner notes etc.

So is it official then that the picture we're seeing is indeed the cover of the album? The 10+ year-old picture of Jimmy and all...?

Oh well, as the Billboard guy said, "he's in the business of being Jimmy." Maybe he'd rather still look 10+ years younger. Still, disappointing to a phan who looks at every record as a piece of a great history, whether Jimmy's bald or not.

I agree he should have done an updated picture, but alot of bands
when they do a so-called "greatest hits" package take old pictures
and use them. The problem is he's used this picture to many times
already. So far from what I've heard I like the remakes but also
agree that the talking he does in the begining of Son of a Son has
gotta go! Its great for live performances but on studio albums theres
only so many times you can hear it before it gets old.

Only 5 days until it's realised. I know everyone's heard all the clips and all, but I'm still excited. I agree that the album cover is a decade old at least, but it's still a good picture. It could have been worse, I'm sure.

CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Im not really dissapointed that it is a greatest hits CD, or anything about it. Jimmy re-recorded about 13 songs, a regular CDs length, and is working with MCA!!! :D And being a greatest hits CD, non-PHs will buy it, and I am glad that the non-PHs will be familiar with my favorite song ever, Last Mango In Paris. And the booklett is gonna be awsome, so I cant wait to get that!!! :D ONLY 5 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
and Jimmy theres still so much to be done...

I love this part:

Jimmy Buffett's new two-disc set, a hybrid of favorites and new recordings that probably falls shy of what many fans would consider "ultimate," but, hey, these are Parrotheads. They're easygoing folks.

It's an album of recycled songs, so it only makes sense that a recycled photo should grace the cover.

Anybody know what concerts the live stuff on the new album are from? I think I remembering reading "Pascagoula Run" was from the recent Columbia show. Anyone know about the others?

If it were me, I'd probably put a ten or fifteen year old picture of myself on the album cover too--I looked a lot better back then!

Hey Gumbo it should say in the liner notes where they were recorded at. It suppose to have a track-by-track description by Jimmy. :D
