is Merriweather closing? I hadn't heard that. When, why, etc...? Thanks.
In my experience, even though Nissan is out in no-man's land it's worth the drive. The parking lot is so much better, the party atmosphere is unbeatable compared to the strict policing that goes on at Merriweather. If Jimmy wasn't playing at Nissan I would definitely go to Merriweather, I'm just glad I didn't have to make that sacrifice.

Do you happen to know how far way this hotel is from the Venue? I just checked and they still have rooms available.

The hotel is about 15-20 minutes away. A pretty straight shot.

Hallwood, Merriweather is closing at the end of the summer. From what I understand, since Nissan opened Merriweather is having a hard time to get "Big Names" to play there, and they just can't sell out anymore. I actaully prefer Merriweather over Nissan ...... maybe it's cause it's the first place I ever saw Jimmy at I'm not sure. It's just a smaller older venue, soI think it's a little more personal, and I have to say I love the trees (I know it sounds corny, but I love the trees). I've never seen another venue totally surrounded by trees the way Merrweather is ......
Anyway, I heard there is like housing or office space (something like that) going in there .... Like Columbia needs more people

Maybe someone from Columbia knows a little more about it

Hey Fruitcakes did you guys get a room at the Inn?

Thanks a lot Mismagic, I'm surprised I hadn't heard about that eariler. It does make sense though since it seems every major act looking for an outdoor venue in the area usually ends up at Nissan.
I do agree with you in Merriweather is better in some ways: can't get more character than what Merriweather has, can't have less character than Nissan, unless you like the hill to the left that separates the parking lot from the hundreds of people p***. And yes, the trees comment was corny but I can't disagree with you. It gives you a different feeling walking in to Merriweather than any other venue than I've ever been to but the parking lot police were just way too much for me the last time I was there for a Buffett show.
So does this mean that if Jimmy continues touring after this year that it will be even more difficult to get JB Nissan tickets?

Man of all places to pick to bring a bunch of new phans. I had to pick the one place with the parking lot patrol.

I hope they get over it. I'm thinking a BIG pool party just migth be the ticket

I hope that they will lighten up a little since this is the last year .......
Crashing a pool party sounds like lots of fun tho
And I'm serious ..... I'm like 20 mins away, it's a straight shot up route 100 from here, we could start the pary here in my parking lot, and move it to Merriweather when the open the gates

Thanks!!! I will keep all options open. I am looking forward to meeting some new phrends! Calling a meeting of the mindless tonight to discuss what we are going to do. Since there are 12 of us coming down we were looking to just get a few rooms somewhere as close as possible to the venue. Not sure any of us will want to drive too far after.
