Just a quick few notes about the new CD that will be available to all Parrotheads this Tuesday. 1st off the packaging is very cool...no standard jewel cases. It is in a recycled paper digipak, tri fold layout with an old tropical dusted look. On one of the folds is an press photo of Bubba during the Hot Water period. The cool thing about the packaging is the 32 page booklet. In it are tons of pics of Jimmy, in his planes, his boats and with guitar in hand. As Jimmy always pens an opening to his CD's this one leaves little doubt he is back in a Key West frame of mind. Jimmy adds his 2 cents to each of the new songs and author Tom Cochrane chimes in with his thoughts on the career of his friend.

Now for the music...Disc 1 is nothing special, we've all heard the songs before and they still sound good but try SYKBH and you will already have most of them. The only 2 (somewhat) new cuts are cut #4 which is a live version of "Holiday." I'm sorry but I despise that song...to me it's like Jimmy at age 70, wearing a velvet sportcoat and being a one man band behind a Casio keyboard playing some casino that's off the strip in Vegas.

The other live cut on Disc 1 is "Pascagoula Run" which is quite good but very much like the regular studio version.

Now for the other disc...this is well worth the retail price for sure! #2 is a great cover of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin." It is old Jimmy strumming his 6 string in Captain Tony's back in the early 70's. They spiced it up with a bossa nova beat and all I can say is that Jimmy should have added it to the set list years ago. I loved the original, the lyrics are some of my favorite..."Goin' where the weather suits my clothes." A classic indeed.

Cut #4 is a newly baked "Son Of A Son Of A Sailor," with a brief spoken intro by Jimmy and somewhat of a co-duet with Nadirah. Pretty much what we have witnessed in concert only this time captured in the studio.

Cut 6 & 7: Knees Of My Heart & In The Shelter: 2 cuts with a reggae beat and In The Shelter is great with this new arrangement!

#9 is a live version of "Desperation Samba," nothing out of the ordinary but a concert favorite captured on this disc.

#11 is Saxophones, my 2nd favorite cut on the CD. It's got a Nawlins' feel to it with a tight horn section. Many will be suprised by this one.

#13 & 16: He Went To Paris & Pirate Looks At 40: Paris is folked up with an acoustic bass, courtesy of Jim Mayer and some great guitar phrasing from Mac. As for Pirate, another concert staple captured LEGALLY on disc.

#17: Sail On Sailor...Jimmy red my mind on this one as I sent him a letter 7 years ago begging him to cover this song! Jimmy...why is it less than 3 minutes long! Such a classic song, you did it justice even with the Brian Wilson harmonies but it is too damm short!

#18: The Captain & The Kid...break out the kleenex as Jimmy dedicates this new version to his Dad, who is still with us but in really bad shape. It'll give you goosebumps and make you think about loved ones. It was a great way to end this disc. Jimmy's voice is in top form and he himself even states that he had a very hard time getting through this one.

So there it is...just my 2 cents and I think most of you will love it. I give Bubba credit because most bands and labels keep putting out recycled compilations. This one differs from the rest so go buy it this Tuesday!
