Labor Day Weekend Show - Where to stay?

Post by Parrothead Piper »

Hi Everybody,

I'm planning on hitting the Boston show en route to Martha's Vineyard. Any suggestions for an inexpensive hotel close to the venue? I've only been to shows in NY and points south.

Cheers! :pirate:

Good question. I'm coming up from NC to see the show, and hope to find some place nearby, as well.
Today is the tomorrow you spent yesterday worrying about. Was it worth it?

Good luck, folks.... the PGA is in town, too, just a few hundred yards down the road from Great Woods... gonna be a TOUGH weekend for traffic and lodging.

The venue is in Mansfield (http://www.mapquest.com). I-495 is also one of the main highways headed toward Cape Cod for the weekend, so southbound I-495 will be a mess on Saturday morning. Soooo..... if you can't find anything right in Mansfield (and I'm sorry, but I don't know what hotels are there...), maybe look south toward Providence (down I-95) (maybe something in Attleboro) or over toward Taunton (about 20-30 min east). That will have you coming north on I-495 on Saturday morning, against the beach traffic.

Don't get lodging in Boston... it's a LOOONG way from Mansfield.

Check out Foxboro. Lots of cheap hotels there. It's like the next town over.

Good point, that, too, Jimminy! Foxboro's likely to be pretty hammered too, though, with both Jimmy and Tiger in town. :o

there is a hampton inn in franklin, 20 minutes from the site, right off the highway, king street exit there are a few hotels in milford, probably 25 minutes from gw book early you may be better renting an rv and sleeping in it in a lot somewhere

bixxx, normally, I'd agree, but the only problem with Franklin and Milford is that you're likely to get stuck in beach traffic on I-495 headed south on Saturday morning. That area near Franklin tends to bottleneck.

NYCPORT has better info than me on RVs, but pretty sure they won't let you stay in the lot over night (though there are other RV friendly parking lots not far away, I understand...)

RV's are not allowed to stay overnight in the lot. Especially this year because I'm sure they are going to use the lot on Friday and Sunday for the PGA event. There is a Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away where we will be spending Thursday night. We've stayed there for a number of years and never had a problem.

Honestly, beach traffic really isn't an issue on that stretch of I-495.

Also, in addition to the Hampton Inn, there is a Hawthorne Suites at that same exit... and, at Exit 17 there is a Marriott Residence Inn.

You can also take Route 140 through Franklin to Mansfield if traffic is backed up.

You can also take the 906 down to the 2E, cut over to the 602 and hit up the bypass. That will bring you to a stretch of 7N that will take you right there.
