Just thought Id put out this question....My wife and I were listening to the title track and were wondering what Jimmy was referring to.
There are many interpretations you could make.We feel that Jimmy was trying to tell his son about God and what happens after this life.
We were wondering what others were thinking and how you view this song.
It is a great song!!!
I don't know about it having anything to do with God, considering Jimmy's views on religion. I think the song is about the imagination a child has at a very young age.I think its about how his son was starting to question what the stars and planets are, and Jimmy feeding his imagination with tales of discovery and adventure. And like he's done for all his children, he turned it into a song.
"I enjoy this life as a jester
Seems to keep me moving around
Like the wind that blows, tides that flow
I have my ups and downs"
I believe Jimmy is a little religious...however some of the lyrics seem to be explaining God or the afterlife to his son thats all.
"He's the Admiral of the ocean , the lone Eagle of the Sky"
I dony know I was just trying to get a feel of what others thought...
Ty.
While we're on the subject of "Moons", here is a similar question. On the box set, in particular the Ballads CD, Jimmy has a song called "Everlasting Moon". In the intro, Jimmy says its what some middle aged people did to help preserve our environment. What exactly happened?
I think its a fictious story, but the song is probably the most underrated song in Jimmy's entire library of music. Its only been played about 2 or 3 times, which was in 1990. The song to me is one of his best and should be ressurected for the live show.
