From RadioMargaritaville.com:
Mr. James Delaney Buffett, Jr., age 83, a native of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and a resident of Point Clear, Alabama, passed away Thursday May 1, 2003 from Alzheimer's disease.
J. D. enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers on his birthday in 1941. He was stationed in Maine, Montana, Africa, and India, and was discharged from service as Master Sergeant in February 1946. He worked at Alabama Dry Docks for 35 years, starting in the Estimating Department and upon retirement, managing government contracts. He was an active participant in maritime and industry affairs on the Gulf Coast. Residing on the shore of Mobile Bay for the past 27 years, J. D. rose most days at dawn to enjoy a pot of strong coffee before heading outdoors to check the crab traps and walk the dogs. Everyday, he relished in the accomplishments of his three children and their families and cherished the companionship of his best friend and life partner, Peets.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to

I am just curious if it is known, or ever will be known, how much was donated in memory of Jimmy's dad to the Hospice in Daphne, AL?
