SDP1,

Thanks for remembering the CD, we had a good little piece of parking lot nirvana going on our row at Irvine. These shows are such a fog, I am sure I have left more than a CD behind...you know, things like common sense. modesty in the back of a rented Expidition at Great Woods, maturity, the usual parking lot antics.

I am lousy at attending meetings, I attend too many at work and travel around the world to go to them. I need to be better at SDPHC...if you see a guy walk into the next one looking dazed, come up to me and help me make friends...we can exchange CD's at the next meeting or show, whichever comes first.

Good news on the expected dates....

It's me...

SD40 - isn't the Bitter End a cool place to hang out? They have really yummy appletini's! :D What about Jimmy Love's? Was there quite a few years ago and it seemed pretty happening, but I'm a bit older now and not sure about the crowd. May be in SD Memorial Day weekend - anything extraordinary happening then?

Honey Do,

You are totally wired to the cool downtown scene. Bitter End is great, and Jimmy Love's is great...best bars on 5th. Dublins is a great Irish bar on 4th, just south of Market...as my mum was born in Dublin, great place for Irishmen to hang out...and lasses. Plus, only two blocks from home.

You have to try the new W Hotel next time you are here. The lobby bar goes off, and the rooftop beach bar with heated sand is awesome. The place in San Diego...this place has been on the cover of SD magazine last month, rated the #1 place in SD. It is near the bay on B street.

Not sure if anything special is happening Memorial weekend, but anytime is a good time in SD.

Memorial Day Weekend

If your looking for some Buffett music on the Sunday of Mem. Day weekend, Koko Loko may be playing at the Galley in Chula Vista. Don't know their schedule but they have been playing every other Sunday there in May from 5-9.

Dublins? Hmmmm........I was in SD for a quickie wedding in Feb (before the groom was deployed) and we went to an Irish bar, can't remember the name. It was a smaller place, great band, very crowded, had a great time. Don't care much for the lowest level at Bitter End, but like the main and top floor. People seem to get a little weird downstairs!

Have to check out the W Hotel place - sounds cool. What's a decent, but not way expensive hotel in the gaslamp area? Stayed at the Embassy Suites awhile ago, but looking for something a little closer. What's that hotel that is attached to Horton Plaze???

I love SD - always have a good time there. Used to be a big beach party at some place called Barefoot something on sundays. Know the place? Still around? Any good? This was about six or seven years ago.

Honey Do....

I think there is a Courtyard on 6th by E or F street, can not be that bad on rates. The Westin is connected to Horton, and I think the Doubletree.

I see what you mean on the lower floor of Bitter End...I am not much into the 20ish scene....more like the 40ish scene.

Honey Do...

I forgot...the Beach Bar you are thinking of is The Barefoot Bar, at The Princess Resort in Mission Bay.

I have spent many a weekend pulling up on my boat and partying there over the years. Memorial weekend, 4th of July, and Labor day were always wild at the Barefoot on a sunday afternoon.

It can still be good, but not as good. The new resort owners (now called Paradise Point Resort) are trying to make the Barefoot more upscale, or trying to discourage the wild sundays with tamer bands. May still be worth checking out, especially over Memorial weekend.

I'm already getting stocked up on supplies... My inflatable collection is beginning to overflow! :D Looking forward to another fabulous time!

After hearing about SD from SGH and Elrod -- then working with Glenn on the cookbook cover -- then meeting (not meating) him in person, I can't wait to come to San Diego for the show. I'm saving my phun ticket money. Can't wait to be there.

WoW, this thread is buzzin' already and the dates haven't even been announced! How tough is it to get tix at Irvine or Coors these days? Last sept was my first JB concert, and we got lawn tix online no problem......was that just a fluke? Is Irvine a lot more popular?

San Diego, once a pretty dull venue for Buffett, has really picked up steam. Many phans now come in for this show from all over the country. At the first show at Coors for Buffett four or five years ago, the parking lot was only half full at 3 pm. Now, watch out...like Irvine (well, not exactly). Tickets last year were fairly easy to get, and I was able to pick up two extra for friends on Ebay two weeks before the show (lawn), not over priced.

Irvine, another story, both days go fast.

Here's to one hell of a Buffett week, three shows in Southern California....and a great summer between now and then....
