The Big Ol' Ticket Dilemma, Easily Solved. . . .
I've seen so many complaints over the years and even more this year about tickets and ticketmaster and getting them and all that. Stop your belly achin' and use you're brain, if it isn't too soggy from all those margaritas. Please don't buy tickets from Ebay, 100 bucks for a lawn ticket, I don't think so. I never try to get tickets before the day of the show. . . . . Peoples, Parrotheads, Fins, and Drunks. . . . .if you just wait and buy them from people at the show looking to unload that extra ticket or two you'll easily get them for face value. If you wait till Jimmy starts playing you can get them right outside the gate for ten bucks from those fool scalpers who bought too many and are just trying to get something back. The last two years at Alpine Valley, Wisc. Which is know for being a sell out every year, I have gotten lawn seats for ten bucks each. Bottom line, be proactive, if you want to see Jimmy there is a way, and it's not 200 bucks a ticket.

That may work at some venues, but I'd eat my hawaiian shirt if you can find a legitimate ticket for $10 at either one of the Greatwoods shows before OR after they start. I agree it MAY be possible to find tickets at face value from real parrotheads at the show, but the chances of finding those few people in a throng of 20,000 or so is pretty slim.
I'm fortunate enough to already have my tickets for this year so I haven't been following the prices too carefully but if history has taught me anything, $100 for the Saturday night greatwoods show IS A BARGAIN!! Most people pay much more for than that from any source they can because they want to attend the show.

Indecision may or may not be my problem....

Your theory has more holes in it than a strainer. I bite with one...And I'm sure more will chime in later. What if I'd like to actually see Jimmy and get two good seats together, not lawns??? Okay, two...What if I don't want to wait until the show starts??? Okay, three and I'm done. What if I'd rather spend the day partying with my friends in the lot, not looking for tickets???
There is no simple answer, or we would have figured it out by now. Trust me...A lot of us are professionals.

Acting in advance to deal with an expected difficulty; anticipatory:
I don't think that's very proactive, it's about as last minute as you can get.

Actually he was implying that were all a little too stupid/drunk to figure out a "simple" problem. Slightly insulting doncha think???Dlish wrote:Ease-up! He's just stating his opinionFINSUPinIdaho wrote:Hey Midwestphish, how much do your tasty veggie burritos cost in the parking lot man?

Actually, you can just wave any tickets at them and they're cool with it.... Last year I waved tickets for the Thursday show at the Saturday show and had no problem... they never got within 10 feet of my car.SchoolGirlHeart wrote: And for the last couple of years, GW ALWAYS checks tix on the way in...

There are ways of cheating the parking lot scalpers In my pastlive
I have heard of things like offering the scalper money and switching the
amount/bills on him, I have heard of fake badges being used to
"explain" the scalping code that "just went into effect" I have
even heard of folks doing worse than that to "pay back" scalpers
The fact is the arenas have to help, the ticketoutlets have to help
It is one thing to score a couple of tickets for friends/family for
a show and another to score a couple hundred. if the outlet would
fire a few for this sillyness and then void those tickets it would go a long way
to help. also We ALL have waited in line over night or longer for tickets
that is great and is another great way to meet (not meat) other phans
but the brokers are hiring homeless to wait in line, set a number
say the first 30 sets of tickets. pull those folks aside AFTER the tickets
and take pictures , have these tickets pre flagged if the ticket holder
is not with the person in the photo you do't get in ticket voided.
I know this will slow getting in some and take some planning
to get to the show together . but again these small things would
help slow down the scalpers.

Must agree with MidwestPhish!
See my post "Tickets for Everyone Half Price"!
There were so many tickets available before the show in Denver-
I couldn't believe it. We had 1 extra ticket because one person in
our group got sick and we couldn't even give that ticket away.
Even the "stinking" scalpers were trying to sell their left-overs for half price.
STOP THE BELLY-ACHING! JUST GO TO THE SHOW!
HELL, THE TAILGATING IS ALMOST AS MUCH FUN AS THE SHOW!
