I'm 26 and have a 13 year old step-son. Last night I was listening to Southern Cross and my son came in on the 'looking, looking' and put his hands above his eyes like he was 'looking'. It was cool and his first "real" interest in my music. Long live Buffett.

My 2 1/2 year old attempts to sing IA ORA TE NATURA from One Particular Harbour. I have to admit, I was a little shocked to hear him attempt this! :pirate:

ok i almost started to cry..let me set the scene..im buying a shirt for work and i have a 5 year old son..i get my shirts and we are about to leave..and my son yells hey look over there..i turn around and there glowing in the distance is the boys section but im not done..i see the usual spiderman and now the incredible hulk matching shorts and t shirt garb..i shudder and say what about it? he says look a jimmy buffett shirt..running as fast as he can right past the horrid matching super hero outfits and pulls a sweat looking and very phitting hawiian shirt of a hanger with parrots on it and procedes to put it on..through the glaze of tears brought on by pride and just sheer exhileration of the whole episode i see he looks like a true parakette..he then starts to do the fins to the left fins to the right dance..the tears flowed like the falls of the niagra..did i buy it for him u bet i did..im cultivating the next generation of parrothead
Barmaid pour me a vacation....I need to leave here right away.

I have been a phan half my life - since I was 15. I have to say that although I have always loved Buffett, my appreciation for the Parrothead lifestyle grows deeper as I get older and my responsibilities become heavier. With serious job and family obligations, I find myself clinging to the PH doctrine and daydreaming about blowing off this too-often-stressful life to open a bar in the islands... I didn't do that when I was 15, though I was a phan. At 15, I loved the concerts and enjoyed a phun night out. By now, the one night a year I get to see Jimmy is truly a religious experience! I don't mean to put down the younger phans; I was once one too, and am still relatively young (2 weeks left in my 20s :) ) No doubt, Jimmy is for all ages, and the PH lifestyle is more and more appealing as we get older.

My children are 9 and 14 and have both grown up listening to his music. My 9 year old told me the other day that she will be a fan longer than I will be because she has been a Parrothead since she was born. She told me she will be one all of her life and I did not start listening to him until I was an adult. Hm sounds likes shes right. But that's ok with me because then it means I did something right
