Im with you. We dont have to many Manatee's in St. Louis, so I dont really care. Everyone should do whatever they think is best and MOVE ON !Key Lime Lee wrote:In fairness, he may have valid points about the Manatee issue. I don't know near enough about EITHER SIDE to have any perspective on who is using what for personal and political gain.
I just don't think it's a Buffett betrayal.
Jimmy believes in it because he's obviously made his own decisions. I'm sure he'd want everyone here who is interested to make their own as well.

Had I seen the original date of this thread...I would not have posted!
Fond memories of a wonderful phriend came to mind!
For all you Florida lifestyle wannabee's...all I can say is now I know why native Floridian's hate tourist's passionately...
Thankfully, only Floridian's will decide this issue.
At least John knew there is much more than "save the manatee" mentality contained in this issue...

I dig Manatee's also.
However I don't very much care for Save The Manatee Club's lies and the fact that just because Buffett help found SMC, Parrot Heads are blindly swallowing SMC lies and half-truths.
SMC may have been founded with the best intentions, however the 'Save The Manatee Club' has turned into more like "SAVE" the Save The Manatee Club.
Think about it for a moment.
How many years has SMC been around? Yet according to them and Buffett, the manatees are STILL on the edge of extinction.
How Many millions of $$ have gone across the table of SMC? It's been in the millions.
Yet every time SMC wins a lawsuit, they're almost always coming out with Action Alerts asking everyone to contact this and that legislator, State or Federal Agency to say it's not enough.
Oh you'll hardly ever here Buffett or SMC come out and say that there are probably more like 9 or 10 thousand manatee in the wilds.
Why? Because that would mean someone would have to stop cashing in on the "Endangered" Cash Cow. Cash Sea Cow that is.
So Yes I do like manatee, in fact I don't know of anyone that would go out of his or her way to harm one.
There are probably more manatee now than there have ever been.
Did you know that there are so many manatee now, that there were 12-15 spotted in the waters of mississippi?
Manatee are starting to show up in Georgia and the Carolinas on he East Coast.
So when I read that some Parrot Head Group has raised $15 Grand to help save the manatee, I know that someone has been duped. And more money is going to go to some attorney or into some SMC employee’s retirement fund.
Hell I use to be among the people willing to believe the first thing I read about the manatee. That is until I started asking questions and seeing for myself just how many manatees are out in the wild.

There have been numerous spottings in Lake Ponchartrain in the last couple of years and even one in Bayou Lafourche which is where I fish almost every weekend. This year the LDWF even published an advisory to be watchful for the little critters. I welcome them into my environs and certainly don't want to hurt one. On the other hand I'm not gonna pay one if I see it either.
I belong in the past, I was not meant to last, and I hope I get there one day!
