Post by tully mars »

Ok,the 4th of July is just around the corner so my wife and I are thinking about doing a large backyard Buffett party for our neighborhood.I throw a lot of deck parties,ya know small, intimate throughout the summer, all being based on Buffett/Key West atmosphere...but for the 4th,I wanna do something larger scale....parents,and kids....you guys give me some ideas as far as food,drinks,games....I have an outdoor sound system, and a friend of mine plays guitars,so,we can do some drunl kareoke...live...lol.But help me out,any suggestions will be considered

What time should I be there?
Today is the tomorrow you spent yesterday worrying about. Was it worth it?

Gotta get the blow-up palm tree (our own Lone Star Palm had his humble roots there before going big-time . . . BTW, where is the LSP partying this week?)
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?

Bobby: No.

Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.

Our next door neighbor justed rented a margarita machine as the latest addition to the annual 4th festivities. As previously, there will be a "moon walk" inflated jumpy thing for the keets (that the drunken adults migrate to as the day progresses), and a limbo contest. Also, sack races, wheelbarrow races, squirt guns, hula hoops, maybe a hula contest?? One year, a "birdman" brought a parrot and other birds for tricks and conversation, and the keets loved it.

Hard to believe this is just weeks away - not feeling very summery yet in IL.

Hey! We're doing the same thing, same time, only no kids. But I always decorate with that famous blow-up palm tree, tropical-themed lights, tiki torches, a tiki hut, and tropical/tiki themed plates, glasses, etc. The pool comes in handy for water volleyball. We also install a tv and vcr player outside on the porch, and have one of Jimmy's videos playing. Limbo's good, just do it in the grass, not beside the pool on concrete (one of life's little lessons-ouch :o ). Be sure and prepare to fend off mosquitos by spray or citronella candles. To keep the kids busy after dark, you could put a "pirate" kiddy movie in the outside tv. At our party, when everybody gets tired and just wants to sit around, we are gonna put "Old School" in the vcr and play a drinking game!!!! :o :D
