ive be-friended a buffett friend

Post by 12 lb. nestle crunch »

so this guy that i hang out with at my watering hole knows jimmy. its a small bar where everyone know everyone, etc etc... ive been hanging with him for a while. so the other day im putting some JB on the jukebox and a buffett conversation starts up. his story is, the day after he got out of the navy, he walked the beach from pensecola to key west, then spent 3 months on a boat with jimmy. (this was in the 70's) he tells me all about how he is personally and what kind of conversations he likes to get into. i doubted him at first, but it is the real deal.
just thought that was cool :pirate:

That is cool, but out of respect you should remain tight-lipped about any details... don't blow any priveliged information! And just bask in the glory of your connection! Kudos!

 Sorry - didn't mean to ask you to breach any confidences - just hungry for morsels about Jimmy! I understand it's not prudent to post details of the conversation on a phan board. Enjoy your new phriend! 8)

Very cool.....if he's the real deal. I've met so many people that have told me they know Jimmy or a friend knows Jimmy real well. Come to find out, it's more like that person "Knows Jimmy..... sings Margaritaville"...ha, ha.

I'm sure everyone runs into this: "My ______(insert person here...brother, sister, husband, wife, etc) is the biggest Jimmy Buffett fan ever." It really peaks your interest so you want to talk about JB with these people and share stories. During the discussion, they ask what your favorite song is, you say "Tin Cup Chalice" and they say...."huh? never heard that one." Big Fan eh?

Anyway...the guy at your bar sounds like he'd be blast to toss a few back with.

Have a great summer everyone!

i guess you didnt catch my earlier post. i came home a week and a half ago because of family issues, and a knee problem. thanks for the support though, and your right, drum corps isnt for lightweights (even though i was the smallest contra player in the top 12 last year). i had two great year, 2001 with Southwind and 2002 with the Cavaliers, so i dont feel too bad about missing my age out. i tell you this though: i cant release any details, but this years Cavaliers show will blow your socks off!!

well, basically he said what i hear from everyone else who met him. he's just a laid back guy, nothing like he is on stage. but he also told me that he really likes to get into philosophical conversations.

sorry for this condensed reply; i havnt been able to get on much lately

Hey, I've seen the Cavaliers !! Amazing stuff...I went to school with a couple of Crossmen, and they practice in a nearby town. I love watching drum & bugle corp groups - I did flag in high school band, and seeing the big guns do their thing just awes me.
