Nametags
I haven't met any of the BNers at a concert before as I'm still pretty new to this place. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at GW! If you haven't already get the info from 7lords and get a BN Nametag so it'll be easier to find everyone! Here's the thread: http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewto ... highlight=
Also, I will be as near to the gates at I can get by 9:30 and I assume, among the first to arrive. Who else plans on getting there around that time? I think maybe i'll grill up some omelettes or something. Sound good?

Any plans forming yet as to where to meet up?
I thought I was the only one with a "staging area" too funny. The final conference call to get everything organized is this thursday at 9. The only thing really left to determine is food. We've got a big group this year though (10) so planning is necessary so everybody doesn't bring cheeseburgers!
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

Sorry, couldn't let this one fall off the first page!
Cabela's delivered us from GW's Porta-Potty hell last Weds -- two of the toilet seat covers that snap onto 5-gallon pails -- about $25 delivered. Thanks to all PHans for your suggestions last week.
As with others in this thread, it's time to start collecting up the miscellaneous ParrotPhanalia that's been collected over the past year and add it to the previous year's pile.
We're only a small group (4) so food isn't as big an issue for us. I'm the designated chef -- last year it was cheeseburgers for lunch, various chips and dips and appetizers for the afternoon, and an orange-lime marinated shrimp with black bean salsa for dinner. I'm looking to create some type of seafood recipe that can use a Hurricane as an ingredient this year.
Next Week will be this week before you know it!

Too funny! I too have a "staging area" and a list so don't forget anything. We've got the bar being constructed as we speak and a couple hundred pounds of sand, and some other goodies as well. I'm sure we'll come up with some more crap between now and then.

NYC,
Funny stuff. Please look for me, SUV with white lettering all over windows saying something like "San Diego to Boston", and the Cal. plates.
There is a website called signonsandiego.com. It has a live webcam mounted on several downtown San Diego buildings. A little like NY, I live in a waterfront downtown highrise, which matches to view from the webcam (my building's twin towers are highly visible on the webcam). Have your girlfriend take a look at the live webcast on ANY day. Look three days in a row, sunny, and pretty darn cool, all of the time.
That should convince her you have a great idea. I can see the appreciation of NY or Boston though, I have spent many a night in Midtown in NY loving it, plus there is nothing like Boston's Bay area during the summer.
Stop by and say hello, I will do my best to further your cause. Phins up!

I hear ya...I live smack in the middle of the Gaslamp...nothing like wandering to a choice of 70+ bars within 5 blocks with no driving. I know NYer's and Bostonians think this is no big deal, but in Southern California it is a novelty & close to nirvana. Gotta love the new W Hotel bar scene, if you visit, you have to check it out. Wall to wall, great looking scenery.

Well, even if I can't convince the girl to move, we plan on making a trip there next year.. Probably the time of the Buffett show. I'll have to look you up and have ya help me with our itinerary when the time comes!SDPirate40 wrote:I hear ya...I live smack in the middle of the Gaslamp...nothing like wandering to a choice of 70+ bars within 5 blocks with no driving. Feel free to look me up, PM me, whatever.
Hopefully, I can steer you pholks in the right direction, and show some SD hospitality. I am going to both the SD show and the Irvine show (The west coast's version of GW).
Our group is a little famous at the shows..in the ol days, I used to have a boat that fit on a trailer...a 33' SeaRay that we used to bring to the parking lot tailgates at Irvine...if you have ever seen the JimmyDotCom book, there is a photo of us in the book at the Irvine show. Plus, Jimmy's tailgate cameraman came up on the bought and filmed us for a while, this clip made it on Jimmy's "parking lot feature" all over the U.S. for about three years!
These days...we just take the new boat out between the SD and Irvine shows in SD Bay, or Newport harbor, as it is a little big for trailers.
Let me know, if nothing else, I can take you guys out for a San Diego Bay harbor cruise.

Hey SDPirate40 I met you about 5 years ago I beleive and I have pictures to prove it. I use to live in San Diego and would come home every Labor Day for the 2 best shows of the year (back then use to be the 3 best shows of the year). I was walking around the GW parking lot and remember a black SUV with writing on it saying "San diego to Boston" or something to that effect. At the time I lived in Pacific Beach (Cass St). Well I moved back to Boston now but I will be out in SoCal for both the SD and Irvine shows next month. Where in the Boston are you staying? I live in Back Bay next to the Prudential Building and some of us are getting together on Friday before the Sox-Yanks game for drinks. Your more than welcome to join us... Can't wait to be back in SoCal next month, do you know how hard it is to find a decent fish taco in this city
