Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

You just needed to right click over the picture, go to properties, and copy the address (URL). :)
This whole thread is so very helpful! I have been searching for help on posting .gif files and you are most gracious to share all this knowledge. Thank you!
But I have a question about how to shrink my .gif to fit the 140 x 140 pixel requirements. Editing it stops the movement... Thanks for your help!

New smaller avatar size?

Post by Longboardn' ASEL&S »

My son was shocked when he realized I was posting without an avatar, so he pulled a personal photo of ours off the refrigerater, scanned it, and now I'm in business.
He ended up cutting himself sitting on the tail off when trimming down to 100X100.
A lot of other's avatars are so big, so I checked this thread.
The last posts still talk about a 140X140 max.
Is 100X100 really the limit now, or can he un-crop himself and enlarge to allow most of our family to be seen?

Well, I hadn't noticed the change!! 140 should be ok.. some are a lot more than that, and it does make some folks have a hard time reading the posts, cause they have to scroll to the right. :-?

Thanks.
My son's trying it out right now. I'll let you know if it takes the 140X140.
He loves that picture. It is Grumman Albatross, just like Jimmy's, that is owned/flown/maintained by a friend of ours.
He took us flying, landed on our lake, anchored, and we spent the day diving off the wings and horizontal tail. One of the guys standing on the wing is me, and my sons are on the other wing and tail.
I'm not type rated in the Albatross, but do have the neccesary ratings to act as the required co-pilot for this huge plane.
My boys think Jimmy is really cool for doing such "awesome" things with his wealth.
Even at 140X140 I doubt if we will be visible, but we sure remember that day well!

It worked!
Why do the instructions say that 100X100 is the Max?
(YOU still can't see my sons and I, but I know what to look for).
Thanks again for your timely reply.

I was always taught to be polite and say the magic words, but now I have even more incentive- after all, how long can one stay content nibblin' on sponge cake?

Yeah, I know. While finally reading the announcements looking for the avatar info, I also perused the thread on ranking.
One good thing about being new to the group is the rapid advancement in ranking possibilities.
It's got to be tough knowing you need 1000 or more when you make it higher up to move on once again.
Then again, where do YOU go from here? Is there a 200,000 milestone yet?
