Merriwether Post Tailgating

Hello all, hoping someone can shed some light on a few things for me. I, along with a few friends are heading to the July 3rd show at the Meriweather Post Pavilion for the first time. What is the tailgating situation up there? We have heard rumors that the police are being very tough there in recent years, any truth to that? Also, how early do they open the gates for the parking lot, and and do they give you any problem with having glass bottles? Thank you for any insight you can provide to this long-time fan, but first time concert-goer.

I was trying to get this thread started in another post area, but my take on Merriweather is they are very strict on tailgatting. The last show I went to there was in 2000 (I think) and they had cops on foot, horses, golf carts and in patrol cars. Way too many cops with real attitudes too. We parked and were told to go into the concert. No tailgatting at all! This may have changed in 3 years, maybe they will let up for us. Let's hope so!

There's a stripmall where everyone parties before going to the show. Where is it? Anyone know? or are we keeping it on the DL? Any help will be rewarded with alcoholic refreshments!!
