I just got an FYI from a friend of mine..

There was a DUI checkpoint set up outside the gates after the Allman Brothers show. I don't remember seeing this in years past. Ya'll plan accordingly...

Thanks for the lookout Senator...I haven't seen any at Nissan in the past, but I'm sure they're always set up somewhere

ya i've heard that the VA state cops wait outside to get people...they are strict...so make sure you have a DD or have someone stop drinking once the show starts!

speaking of bars... we have a "cool" one here in richmond... called the capital ale house... they have an ice rail that runs the entire length of the bar... set your drink on it and it never goes warm :) now why didn't i think of that???

About the checkpoint. For those who don't know, a stronger Virginia DUI law just took effect. While I don't remember all of the specifics, I know fines for 1st time are about $250 and if there is a minor in the car it is a mandatory jail term (5 days I think).

I have heard that Virginia (at least Northern Virginia) is planning on doing many more checkpoints on "big" drinking nights. That would include most Fridays & Saturdays, and i would assume any Buffett concert.

Always a good rule, regardless of the police situation.
My wife has volunteered to be the DD for the show on the 5th. Our first anniversary is the 6th, so I guess I have to make it an especially good one, huh? :D

We're gonna try to catch a ride with anyone nice enough to let us out to the concerts, if not that then it'll be taxi's for us...Being just a few miles from the venue, it shouldn't cost too much...Beats taking the risk though, I don't want to spend one second of my 4th weekend in jail!

The weather reports aren't looking too great so far for Merriweather and Nissan, supposed to be hot hot hot but also calling for pretty good chances of thunderstorms...I'm keeping my phins crossed it'll be nice...

30% chance of thunderstorms at nissan on saturday... that's a typical day in richmond and we hardly ever see them... i.e., yesterday :) 91 will be warm, but still better than last year!

beer, water, beer, beer, water

That's ok we still like to drink 1 or 2 or 3 during the shows too
We will pile in and follow Cindy Lou's caravan. What time are you planning on getting to the Red Roof? I am so confused any more. Are you staying there??
