OK all you Alpine Valley fans!

Thank the Tiki Gods for the weather!

I thought the show was great and the parking lot incredible. But then again, I might have had a few boat drinks as well.

So, at this early hour, what are your first impressions of the show last night?

Anybody awake yet? :D

Jack,
Alpine is always a wonderful show. That natural valley and trees make it the best place that I have ever seen ANY show. I have been going there since 1978 for shows. I listened on RM last night and it was great. Having to be to work in downtown Chicago by 645am on Sunday mornings precluded me from being in attendance last night. I will be at the (Ugh!) Tweeter Center on August 21. TC truly sucks! They should have left Poplar Creek alone and never built the Tweeter. Here is a question........Why doesn't Jimmy play Summerfest in Milwaukee anymore? I have seen him several times at the Marcus Amphitheater during Summerfest and next to Alpine and old Poplar Creek, it is the best venue in which I have seen him. He used to do one night at Summerfest and one at Alpine and then two other Chicago shows at a different time. Ah for the good old days!

WOW, what a night! The tiki weather gods did shine upon us yesterday! I am fighting off a bit of a headache right now...don't suppose it could've had anything to do with the gazillon beers I drank

He outgrew it....Alpine holds 15,000 more people.

As for last night, I was down in the 7th row. Great show, the crowd was just smokin, and the band was full of energy. And of course the parking lot is one of the best. Great time, great hangover, great sunburn. What a day!

Yes,the Tiki Gods were watching over us yesterday!! I think having all those Parrotheads at Alpine scared away the rain! Thought it was great when Jimmy made the comment about the weather not being F.... 40 degrees like it was 2 years ago!

Great show as always!

The show was great. I loved the acoustic stuff. The only crappy part of the evening was when I got back to my van I found my front license plate had been stolen. So if anyone sees a Wisconsin PARETHD license plate. Let me know! !

Sucks to hear someone had a license plate stolen..not a true Parrothead act!! Our bus driver also told us about a pretty nasty fight while we were in the show that happened near our bus area and a girl also fell off the top of a bus parked across from us and had to be taken by ambulance. They had a nice thing going up until then. Mixing heights and alcohol is never good, heck by the end of the night I had enough trouble walking. How about that "bootie booth" and the "spin the fin" games. Pretty darn funny! Loved the Tiki bars people brought too.

All in all I think it was one of the best concerts weve done at Alpine. The weather was there and it was beautiful. Like Jimmy said, he and the band voted at break and agreed that Alpine is the best for tailgating. Loved the tunes he and Mac did together! Perfect show!

See you all there next year!

Did anyone else see the shooting star across the top of the lawn? I know alot did since there was a big awwww afterwards.

Also..is it just me getting older or is the crowd getting younger? Lots in my lawn section were college aged and didnt even know the words to sing along unless it was Margaritaville. Of course the dope they were smoking may have had something to do with it. They also took off before the show ended. I couldnt imagine leaving early... his last song hit home! Maybe Ive always been lucky and gotten in the more hardcore sections before.

Until next year.

sure did sound like a large time...shoot, even Jimmy called it the best parking lot party on tour!!! And what was his remark about boats? Did people drag sailboats to the party? As one who has a little boat (San Juan 23), I was picturing trailering her to the lot, raising the mast, and having a boat party!! Do tell!!

I didnt see any sailboats but there was a big boat with a cuddy cabin trailered in about 4 spaces down from our bus. Bringing in a sailboat and raising the sails wouldve been too kewl!
It was all fun!

i wrote up a 5 page review on the concert in Word right when we got home today... Since this was my second concert, first in Alpine Valley, I wanted to remember it, since I am only 16 and remained sober, I remembered a lot... I did not see the shooting star but people by me did and I knew all the words to all the songs except She's got you and honey do and I knew most of the words, but not all to: manana, that god the tiki bar is open, mental floss, defying gravity....

Pictures from the digital camera are on the computer now so if you think I should upload them tell me and pictures from the normal camera come tomorrow

What a day!
I'm still feeling the effects of the rum punch here on Mon. morn wheeew had to be a good time.
The weather Gods smiled upon us on Sat. , sure didn't look good Sat. morn so ran out to Walmart and bought the cheapo $13.95 blue tarp shelter just in case, put it up, but never really need it as the storm just skirted past Alpine.
The parking lot was awsome , more beer slides than I've seen in the past and really enjoyed watching some of the ladies getting their free temporary tattoos in fun places.
Yeah I must be getting older too , alot of the crowd looked like they could be my offspring, what a great way for generations to bond !
Jimmy was in a great mood and the band was cooking.
Wish I could do it every weekend, but my liver and my employer would never stand for it.
Anybody record the show Sat. night that would care to share? :D

Let's review

How was the show? Let's review:

The show started when I looked over my left shoulder to see a man old enough to be my father puking. Nice touch; I'm sure your kids are proud of you...

After the first song a drunk lady old enough to be my first grade teacher and her emotionless glassy-eyed husband pushed my wife and spit at me. That's great lady, can't wait to see you on COPS...

Three songs later a fat 50-something dude came crawling up the lawn at us on all fours asking if we've seen his wife. Yeah, I saw her making out with the old puking guy next to the toilets...

By the time Jimmy took a break the poor Keets next to us had had their decorations trampled by a bunch of X'd out kids just about my age (28). Hey homies, the Eminem concert was somewhere else...

The set list was the same as it is every year and the sound was worse than ever. I'm through with Alpine and I'm through with "Parrotheads" who puke, shove, spit, crawl and kick. Bastards.

Hey all! The forecast stunk, but the weather was great! During the 11am thunderstorm and noon rain while we loaded the bus, my husband wanted to bail and have me sell his ticket, but I dragged him along and the tiki gods came through! Woo hoo!

I thought the show was great, the lot was great, and I met tons of fun happy cool people, but no one from Buffettnews!!! :( I went on a quest for 7lords tiki bar, but never found it. So if you happened to see the Tiki Bar on the screen during CILCIA, that was me!

mrrumpunch - :( how far into the show? Did they ship you to the lawn, or out?

HI ALL: This was my first time to Alpine. Awsome. See you next year. We drove up from Kansas City on Friday. The parking lot was truley the best. I saw no problems, no fights on hostility nothing. Just Phans having a Blast. The show was great I even thought the bathroom lines moved well.

I too had some concerns about the weather in the morning but we solved that by buyin ponchos and umbrellas at Wal-mart. (knowing that if we made a special effort and spent a bunch of money it would not rain.)

All and all we had a great time. We love Jimmy and the PHs!!

Joe :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

They basically escorted me to the lawn and cut off my wristband so I couldnt come back to my seat......I was not a happy camper! It was just after intermission so I got to enjoy a majority of the concert in my seat. :x

Yes, saw you on the screen - our tiki bar also made it on the video. If you saw the guy that had the hat with Patrick the starfish from Sponge Bob Square pants on it, we were right by him all day. Had a name tag on that said "That Guy - 7LORDS" on it and many people commented that they have seen my posts - just didn't run into any of the regulars, I guess.

Hopefully, I'll have some good action pics of the tiki bar that I can post later. MANY copmments on it all day long and lots of people pointing when we went to set it up - went from a bunch of flat wood to a very solid, 3/4" finished plywood bar in less than 30 seconds. We were serving up drinks all day long and the tip jar that someone put out actually got pretty full. I was a little reluctant to bring it with the morning rains but the weather was great and all went well.
