When Jimmy calls it quits.........

Who do you think will take over the tour once Jimmy reaches the end? Is he grooming anyone?
With the following he's built up, I can't believe once he retires this will all come to an end. With more of the nations youth jumping on the Buffett Bangwagon, I think this could go on a long time if done correctly.
Just a thought. I'm 28 years old, and I'd like to think these gatherings with great ParrotHeads and great atmosphere will go on for years to come. I can't imagine a year in which I couldn't look forward to 2-3 of these concerts.

I would think when the end comes.. If it ever does, that would be it.....
People from the band will carry on I'm sure, but not in the same capacity..
Most of them are getting up there in age also, other that Peter and Jim Mayer...I'm sure Club Trini will also go on in some form. We'll just have to find them in smaller venues, and cover bands.. But don't fret, the end is not in site.... I hope.......

Hopefully this is a question we won't have to deal with for quite a while. My fingers are crossed & I know I'm not alone.

I can't really see anyone else drawing Parrotheads to concerts like the frenzy it has been in the past and is now. I hope someone will be able to bring the same great music and great concerts once Jimmy retires but lets hope thats a long time from now.

I think once Jerry Garcia died, the Deadheads, who literally spent their LIVES following the Dead around, pretty much disbanded. I know some took to following Phish, but not anywhere near in the same capacity.
I always wondered what happened to those Deadheads.

Most of the "DeadHeads" of which you speak are alive and well!
Many are here in Denver for a week living in a campground just
outside the city. The Dead are in town for five (count em "five")
shows at Red Rocks Ampitheater beginning this Sunday.
Damn, if we could only get Jimmy here for five shows in a week at
Red Rocks, I'd be in heaven!

As my Nan-Naw woulda said:
"CHILDE.....HUSH YO' MOUF!"
I can't even imagine life without Bubba and the Reefers!!!!

Yeah, who would guess that!
The only reason I knew is because I've got a good friend
who's a "Deadhead". Imagine that Parrothead freinds with
a Deadhead!

Hmmmm...
I'm sure us Parrotheads will find great ways to keep the
party going, once Jimmy's had enough!
Happy Independence Day!

There's two things that are certain to happen in life, Jimmy one day will
retire (god forbid that day when it comes) and secondly his music will live on forever,
so the party can still go on

You got to hear a guy named JIM MORRIS. He will be at the pre-party at Merriwether I think

Honestly, I'm not sure Jimmy will ever *completely* retire. He seems to be having a great time. I think he'll just cut back more and more until the day comes (God forbid) when he *can't* play any more.

you all are giving me a scare, this is the 3rd tread talking about Jimmy hanging up his fins in the last week. I live and die for the next CD with new stuff. (I converted all my LP to CD about 10 years ago). I want to see him still going in the "fab teens"

"as long as there are people to attend our concerts and sing and have a good time with us, I'll keep doing it."

Like Scarlett, let's not think about that today, if we do we will go crazy, let's think about it tomorrow or not at all. However, parrot heads don't need JB in attendance, we just need his music & someone to play it well! JB really LOVES his job & I can't see him "retiring" ever.

I'll be rolling my parrot (wheel) chair to every event I can!
peace & love
