It’s Jimmy’s flow and his business, but I really wish he would make a financial detour and get this over with once and for all. Elton John rescued his early/classic work from MCA, and his albums were re-issued on CD twice!
It’s the early material Universal has its paws on that made Jimmy what he is now and without it, he wouldn’t have the cash flow in hands that he does now. If I were Jimmy, I would want to own all the pieces to my own history.

Just went to Universal Records' offical site... There's no mention of Jimmy anywhere on their roster!
This is just great...

I was just reminded of something as I posted in Jahfin’s REM remaster thread:
The only two main artists who still have their catalogues on old-fashioned 80s CDs are Jimmy and Bruce Springsteen. (well, yes there is the Beatles catalogue, but that’s another rumor filled story) I’m sure for Bruce it would be quite easy, as he’s in a rare case where he had the same label from album one: CBS/Columbia. With Jimmy, it may take a little more begging to Universal, but if he was able to get in the master tapes for MMIM, I really don’t see what’s holding him back. Also, Bruce and his mastering engineer, Bud Ludwig just recently went into their master tapes to make remasters for The Essential Bruce Springsteen. Boys, please don’t stop there!
