i have all the concerts that i need from my other favorite bands but i really want buffett concerts or rare recordings. bootlegs arent bad unless you are looking to make a profit.

I dont really worry about covers. If I were to have every show I have in a case with art work, Lets just say i would probably would have used at least 8 printer cartrdges, and need a bigger place just to store all my shows.

This is what I use

the 72 CD folders. Right now I have about 7 of them FULL of ALL BUFFETT shows. I need to get more, probably 3 or 4 at least if not more, just for all my Non Buffett shows. This saves so much room and space.

Bootleging and downlaoding are wronn anywhay you look at it.

The future of music depends on artists receiving royalties for their hard work. Why should anybody take it for free?

But that is not the point my friend.

You are taking money away from the artists.

Another reason why ticket prices are going up.

Not true - if that where the case why would bands like Phish, Counting Crows, The Dead and DMB print right on the ticket that audio recording is OK? And if it really was bad Jimmy would pull live shows from RM. Trading retail music, however, is bad. And ticket prices aren't going up because of music trading - they're going up because people will pay those prices - the record industry and concert industry are 2 different beasts.

I agree, there are lots of bands that let you bring in recorders to use the show for YOUR PERSONAL USE. Hence not mean SELL. Most bands want people to TRADE their shows.

i agree with you 100% 7lord. artists arent loosing anything by people trading recorded concerts. that is not why the ticket prices go up at all. if anything, it increases ticket sales because people want to see the shows for themselves. ticket prices are going up because of ticket conglomerants like clear channel that make you pay a crazy amount for ticket prices. many bands, like my favorite, u2, they dont mind if people record there shows at all. they just care if people are charging money for them. bootleging is not wrong unless it is to make a profit. i love getting copies of shows that i have been to. it brings back so many memories.

Maybe there is something we can do to get the venues to lower their prices on beer, I for one am sick of being raped when I go buy a beer, and have to pay 7 or 8 dollars for one

i hear ya. i took one of my sisters to see bon jovi a couple of years ago. it was a birthday present and so , being the nice brother told her i wold buy her beer. she was a new mother at the time and wasnt able to get out of the house. so her husband watched the baby and she and i went to the show. needless to say i felt raped after the price for alcohol at concerts as well. also, the price for merchandise is going through the roof.

one more note on bootlegs. bono, from u2 admitted the he went out and bought a copy of salome, a 3 disc set of working tapes of there album achtung baby. they were stolen and release before the album came out. so he even bought a bootleg of his own band.

bootleg: goods smuggled or illicitly produced or sold.

So my point is, I wish you would choose other words, such as "concert trading", and "concert recording".

I am eternally grateful that some artists such as Mr Buffett allow avenues to recording concerts. I am also eternally grateful to technologically savvy and equipped people recording them, and copying them for less savvy individuals such as myself in exchange for cost to cover the discs and shipping. It's a wonderful world!

I just don't like the word bootleg thrown around for something I participate in , which is NOT bootlegging. Bootleg IS a bad word...

As I said I am talking about the retail side-downloading album tracks more than the live side.

The concert industry and record industry are directley related because of a common denominator the artist.

The artist has to deal with labels, publishers and promoters.

As I said "another reason why prices are going up", not the sole reason but another contributing factor to the rise in ticket prices. It doesn't help the labels and publishers but it does help the artist.

If the artists chooses to let their audience tape or downlaod concerts from the net that's great. But I doubt very much they agree with file sharing or downloading free music.

The future of the recording industry and new artists depends on these royalties.

Do you have any idea what the guarantes or deals are these days?
