Jimmy Buffett and the Beach Boys!!! Performing at ??

Post by SouthernSeas »

Hey, the Beach Boys are still touring so wouldn't it be nice if Jimmy Buffett did a concert with the Beach Boys? They all are about the same age and all. Just think about it.... Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnson, Dave Marks, John Stamos (he is still the drummer I believe), and hell...maybe even Brian Wilson will come out. Of course all of them on stage with Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band.....WHAT A CONCERT!!!
Sunset Beach is my Margaritaville. Where there is endless beach, no time, and sunshine that seems to last forever. I know that Someday I Will.....Someday.

Aren't the Beach Boys all feuding? Last I heard, there were at least 2 different versions claiming to be the Beach Boys. One with Mike Love and one with Brian Wilson.

I saw them

I saw the Beach Boys 5 or 6 years ago. It was after Carl Wilson died. It was the group with Mike Love. I didn't expect much but really had fun. They sounded great. I seem to recall they replaced Carl with 2 guys so even the high parts are still there. Even without Buffett, they and their music is worth seeing. All that said assuming they haven't lost it in the past 5 years.

I agree it would be fantastic to see these two paired at a show, they just happen to be in my top 5 favorite bands. But as the case is with just about all of the music I listen to, its not the same it used to be....I would have loved to have seen The Beach Boys when they were in their prime around the mid 70's. I can only imagine Carl Wilson's angelic voice coming thru live in concert, Dennis Wilson stumbling around drunk during songs making fun of Mike Love, Brian Wilson showing up occasionally looking like a dear caught in headlights, MAN! that would be ccol.

It would be quite a cool spectacle today too, but use Al Jardine's band with his sons and the Wilson brothers children...I hear they sound better!

Buffett and the Beach boys

Post by Fresh Water Pirate »

Currently the touring Beach boys are (Mike Love, Bruce Johnston,)Mike is the only original member, along with and a handfull of other muscians that may have toured with the boys in the past, Adrian Baker, John Cowsill(The Cowsills), Tim Bonhomme, Chris Farmer, Scott Totten, and Mike Kowalski. They are basically a money making machine just living off the hits no real interest in anything but that.
On the other hand, the brains behind the Beach boys (Brian Wilson) is also touring right now re-creating the ever mysterious (SMILE) album after having much success in past past couple of years with the Pet Sounds tour which by the way includes a great back up band which is made of of mostly members from the group The Wondermints, look for a new solo album from Brian coming this fall.
Would be cool to see Brian and Jimmy play together , but Mike Love is too hung up on himself to share the stage with anyone else, especially Brian.
