Trying...I think people took offenxe to your comment: "A true phan needs a ticket much more than a charity needs a few more bucks" because it sounded cold....but you are entitled to your opinon, I asked for it and you gave it, thank you.
As lee mentioned...I would give up the right to ever see Jimmy again if I knew it would help someone...and that doesn't make me any less of a true fan.
I am not out to force or trick people into giving to a charity...but I figured, if they are willing to pay so much to see Jimmy...why not let a charity profit instead of a scalper. I highly doubt my idea will impact ticket buying and selling in the future and will not make getting tickets harder. The only difference between what I want to do and what people on E-bay do is that my profit will not go to me.

The issue of "true phans", "true parrotheads", "true schmoo"...is irrelevant...
Kitty has something of value...to those who like to attend Jimmy Buffett concerts...not simply "true phans".....
There are plenty of people with PLENTY of dough, that wouldn't think twice about dropping a grand on those tickets whether they knew the extra money was going to charity or not.....there are people out there that simply have that kind of money to throw around...regardless of their "true parrothead" status! If Kitty wants to take advantage of it to do something good, I think it's awesome!
Those that can't afford to pay more than face will just have to look for tickets elsewhere.....
Kitty, you have a great idea...I'm disappointed that I've never thought of it myself!
By auction, raffle or gouging some rich guy...any way you do it is alright in my book....go for it! And beat Leukemia!!! We need more Kittys in this world!!!

`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Coming out of "Lurk Mode" to offer yet another opinion. I got to wondering if this couldn't be turned into a win - win proposition. My thought is this.... what if the good folks at BN "purchased" the tickets via a pledge directly to Kitty (I'd be first in line). Kitty could then donate the collected money to her favorite charity and then find some deserving Parrotheads to GIVE the tickets to. There are plenty of stories out there of needy Parrotheads. My first choice would be for our Parrotheads in uniform. The logistics might be tricky, but certainly do-able. Just a thought.
