How do you make a Hurricane?

With all the excitement surrounding Alan Jackson's song with Jimmy Buffett, I'm curious to know how to make a Hurricane. I usually prefer beer over mixed drinks, but the song and video have me wanting to try one. I know I could easily locate a recipe on the net, but I want to hear if/how my fellow Parrotheads are making them. Thanks!

1 oz. light rum
1 oz. dark rum
1 oz. Amaretto
6 oz. pineapple juice
6 oz. orange juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 dash Grenadine syrup
1 slice orange
1 maraschino cherry

Add 16 ounces of ice to a cocktail shaker. Combine light rum, dark rum, Amaretto, orange juice, pineapple and lemon juice. Shake well and pour into a Hurricane or other large specialty drink glass. Top with Grenadine. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry.

Sams Club, and possibly a liquor store near you, sells a pre-mixed Bacardi Hurricane 1.75 L or 750ml, which is a pretty blue color. I googled and googled but could not come up with an image to share with you however... :(

I haven't tried a hurricane yet, but someday I will!! :D

Isn't that the standard test? If you're at Mardi Gras, and the
vomit on your shirt is red, it was a Hurricaine?

HA... at Mardi Gras I am not watching puke on my shirt or on any other shirt. I'm watching the females without shirts. :o

:oops: So was I, and I failed miserably! :oops: :D :P And I call myself a bar!!!

In response to AF, I did some more googling, and came up with this from webtender.com...

Hurricane Leah

* 1/4 oz Light rum
* 1/4 oz Gin
* 1/4 oz Vodka
* 1/4 oz Tequila
* 1/4 oz Blue Curacao
* 1 dash Cherry brandy
* 3 oz Sour mix
* 3 oz Orange juice

Mixing instructions:

Pour over ice into hurricane or parfait glass, stir. Garnish with orange peel.

~~~~~~~~^~~~~~~~~~~
One Hurricane out of so many recipes is blue! How odd that their pre-mixed cocktail is blue. They must be trying to confuse us! Go figure!
...I need a hurricane, before I go insane!!! :D :D
But don't get the package of Pat O'Brien's Hurricane mix.....it's not very good, too sweet. Of course, the one's at Pat O'Brien's made fresh are pretty sweet. Maybe a little lime in the drink would cut some of the sicky-sweet out. I need an emoticon here that sticks it's tongue out and frowns. :D
