Fort Zach is definitely the best beach to go to in Key West!! If you drive in, you do pay a very small fee (it's like $1 per person I think) . You can also ride a bike or walk-in, in which case you'll pay maybe 50cents or so. It is absolutely gorgeous there & they have a snack bar and nice bathrooms/showers. You can also rent lounge chairs, snorkel gear and rafts. Granted, it's not your typical beach, with waves, lifeguards, etc, but in my opinion, it is better. It's usually very quiet and relaxing...perfect for a lazy day in paradise!

You don't go to KW for the beaches :) 8)

If you fly, stop in Miami for a couple days..go to South Beach :o One of the BEST beaches.

Then drive the couple hours to KW during the day and enjoy the scenery...then party in KW, go out on the boats, party some more....

Quick question about my own vacation to KW. Was getting ready to shell out the $160 and reserve this trip. http://www.wyndham.viator.com/brochure/ ... DE=3800ISL

But, thought I'd see if anyone here has done it or something like it. Is it worth it? I'm not really financially able to rent my own boat and do my own thing and this looked like a cool idea. Especially the "beer, wine and homeade sangria" thing.

Admission to Fort Zach is $1.50 for walk-ins. By automobile, the fee is $2.50 per person for the first two people and .50 for each person in excess of two. You can snorkel off the beach. Fort Zach is the best place on the island to see an unobstructed view of the sunset, but Mallory Square has the best atmosphere for sunset watching.
It's a jungle out there kiddies; Have a very fruitful day.

NYC, that is about average. We did a similar trip when we were down there through Sebago. For another $20 you can get parasailing and waverunners which is what we did. Check this link to compare the two trips together. We had a blast and the crew is great.

They also threw in a complimentary sunset cruise for another day. I am sure you can get the same thing if you call them directly.

THanks! 20 extra bucks for parasailing and waverunners sounds like a pretty good deal. I'll definately be looking into it! Thanks again!

I found Ft. Zach very rocky, and very crowded. Plus, ya can't get any drinks there, which I require when lounging on the beach in KW. Even though the swimming isn't great, I prefer the beach at the southern end of Duval. Rent a chair for $5 for the day, and you'll get waiter service for food and drinks. The beach waiter will bring you 2 ice cold drinks at a time in a beach pail. Very easy to lounge the day away down there....done it a bunch of times :-)
