I can't believe I missed this thread! :o

I had been lurking a bit. I joined on 11 Jan 2001, because tickets for the February shows were going on sale the next day. I had been recalled to active duty after 9/11, and was sitting alone in a BOQ room in Maryland. I was supposed to be in MD for several more weeks, so I bought tickets for the Florida shows in February and had a great time here at BN hunting down plane fares, hotels, etc.

HAH! Silly Parrothead..... That Monday, I was told to finish up my work in MD, get back to New England, and pack, because I was leaving for the Middle East before the month was out.

BN helped me sell my tickets (at face, of course :P ) and then the wonderful people here (not ONE of whom I had yet met in person) proceeded to keep my smiling through six months in the Middle East.

I love this bar! :D

Cubbie Bear wrote: Seriously, I found it off of Margaritaville. Had been reading the posts there and thought everyone sounded like "Buffett Snobs" which is entirely against the lifestyle I signed up for. Read CoBo for a while and didn't like the tone there either. Frankly I do not think every thing after 1978 sucks. I was there then and I've stayed with it, not in the past.
I'm glad you said that. I have visited the Margaritaville message boards several times. On top of the format being extremely difficult, the people there just aren't fun to ineract with. It also seems like they "go crazy" when certain people say certain things. And, I visit COBO regularly because of the wealth of information on that site (the setlists, downloads, etc), but everytime I go there and see them blasting everything since 1978, I just  .

You know, occasionally arguments do break out here, but when they do, most of us can keep it civil. And, occasionally, someone here has a negative thing to say about Jimmy. But, when that's the case, the person usually respectfully expresses their negative thought without totally blasting Jimmy. You know, there is a huge difference between saying, "I wish the set lists included [insert song title here] instead of [insert song title here]" and saying, "JB sucks; his set lists s***." Fortuantely, the former is what we tend to see here, and that's the way it should be.

Happy Holidays!

I was told about Buffettnews, by a member of Margaritaville.com, who visits here also. After a few years on that board, I decided to make a switch, so, Hello all, and may this be a NICE PLACE to hang my hammock!

I awoke from a drunken haze in the love den of a New Orleans whore who had a whiskey voice so husky it could tow a sled. First thing I saw was a crumpled up piece of paper with this web address written on it, and I knew I had to check it out.

Really, I'm with the other transplants from Margaritaville.com. Started reminding me of why I hate some family gatherings sometimes. Maybe it was me, just didn't enjoy it like I used to.

Stopped in for a quick drink and didn't know I was going to stay, so I have yet to get around to changing my login name.

How did you discover buffettnews

I found the address to Margaritaville.com in one of the CD booklets, discovered Radio Margaritaville from clicking a link on there and then I hit the fan recourses button on the RM site…

Thanks, for the WELCOME< now where are the Oklahomans? I have seen so many Parrothead plates in Edmond where I live, I wonder how many of those people go to Dallas show?, I have always wanted to run an ad in the paper to get everyone to go together in a CARAVAN, that would be so fun, but never did it.

Thank you PHJIM for keeping us together and thank you Lisa, Kat and John because without you three I would have never been here.
other then I guess I lurked around when I met my first PH friend...(a story in itself)....this says it all....if it werent for John, Kat and Al..not sure I would of stuck around....specially John, he had a way w/not letting ya give up when ya wanted to....then I met some more really special people and it's been a "Lovely Cruise" full of "Souveniers"....thanks to you all....for the most part this is a safe place in a world full of insanity....not sure I could of gotten this far w/out some of you.....
