No the song is not being sold yet. It is on "Alan Jackson's Greatest Hits Volume II" due out on August 12. It's #1 for play not sales. Both the song and video are being played now.Ceol na Mara wrote:Would someone please explain to me how it works? Is this single being sold somewhere? I can't find it anywhere! And all I keep reading is that it will be released on the AJ best of album. So how does it get to #1? Same with the video? Please help! I'm REAL happy it's #1, but how did it get there if it's not released yet? I'm sooooo confused?

I agree. Kenny Chesney is the most notable with his latest CD and single No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. His tour this year is called Senioritas and Margaritas and his Christmas album that will come out in October is called All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan.Havaña Dreamer wrote:I have noticed that alot of country artist are headed to the beach.Bwana Paul wrote:It seems like a lot of Country Artists are emulating Buffett's style or mentioning him in their songs.
Daryl Worley has a tropical single called I Need A Breather. And of course Alan Jackson

I looked at www.billboard.com and Red Dirt Road by Brooks and Dunn is still listed as #1. Jimmy and Alan are still #2. When/where can I see them at #1?

Speaking of artsits emulating Jimmy.
Toby Keith's latest cd has a Buffettesque song on it called "Good to go to Mexico" that's FINtastic.
I also recently bought Tracy Bird's new cd and he has a song called "How'd I wind up in Jamaica" that's very Buffettesque.
Also has a bonus live version of "10 rounds with Jose Cuervo" with the intro to Margaritaville played at the end of it.
Pretty cool
Everybody wants to be Jimmy!!!!!!!

How is it Billboard's Aug 9 chart is posted 7/31? More than a week early? It's always like that, but why not date it the day it's posted???? Who cares?

how does it get to #1?
How a song gets to #1 on the singles charts is strictly by the amount of airplay, not sales. On the billboard charts the song that has been played the most times is #1. R&R works a little different because it takes into consideration the market that the song gets played in. R&R uses a point system where the bigger the market, the more points the song gets. For instance, a song that was played on the radio in L.A. would recieve more points than the same song at the same time being played in Chattanooga, because of the potential for more listeners to hear it. For that reason, some believe that R&R may be more accurate. Hope that helps
