Well, it finally happened. I saw someone else with the Parrothead plates this morning. I gave her a Fins Up and she waved back. Pretty cool!

Plates should ship today

Post by skiboutins »

I called Shirley to check on the status of my souvenir plates.

She was very nice and helpful...although easily confused.

The status was showing a ship date of today, although the
information was not completed, which surprised her.

She promised to look into it and make sure they did ship today.

I guess they acquired some new blanks.

They're arriving again

Post by Raleigh »

I've heard from several people who have just received their plates. It looks like DMV is producing them again. If you haven't received yours then hopefully they'll show up soon.

I'm also still waiting for the sample motorcycle plate. I'll be sure to let everyone know when I get it.

Hey fins2rt:

You can find mine in the Springfield area - LUVNLC - We got it the first week they were out. We got our first comment from a parrothead this weekend. She said it was the first she had seen and she was tempted to change but for her belvoed Redskins. Now come on - that is an easy choice.

That being said I have not seen any others yet.

I've seen several

Post by Raleigh »

I've seen quite few but mostly on friends' cars or at Parrot Head events. I have seen a couple on cars I didn't recognize though. A smaller white car on Linton Hall Road in Gainesville and I passed a white pickup truck on Rt. 7 in Sterling last Thursday. It's always a thrill for me. I'm looking forward to seeing the parking lot at Nissan. The parking lot at the Best Western off of Balls Ford Road in Manassas on Friday and Saturday (July 2 & 3) should have a bunch too.

I had the similar decision when the plates came out, retire my treasured redskin plates at 60 bucks a year or go for the parrothead plates. Let's say the redskin plates are now framed on my wall at home next to my other redskin stuff :D and my smurf blue staurn looks great with the parrothead plates on them

I finally got through to customer service yesterday. My plates were shipped Monday. Hoping they'll be there when I get home today!

Alan - I live sorta near Roanoke. We get there a couple times a month, usually on Saturdays. If you see a red Nissan with pr8hid, give us a honk!

Plates arrived Tuesday

Post by skiboutins »

The souvenir plate for my son arrived yesterday.

My current project is to convert a plain jane Cozy Coupe over to
a bonefide Tailgate Cruiser.

I already found some mini tiki torches that I plan to lash to the
uprights (and never lite) and some lei garland to decorate the lid.

Any other suggestions from the BNers?

Has anyone else attempted such a project? Any pics?

Cool to hear magnus, couple of times a month you come here. i am guessing you either live closer to lynchburg or blacksburg then. I will be on the lookout for a red nissan with ph plates. My car is easy to spot a blueberry saturn with 1179jb, hoot, hollar, honk I'll know its you then :D

When the you see the car and the plates it will remind you of violet in charlie and the chocolate factory after she ate that gum she wasn't supposed to  I might get smurfmobile on my plates if i can get that down to 6 letters lol. You look for the smurfmobile and i will look for the arrest me red nissan :)

Desdamona,

If I am not mistaken you can order any quanity of those sample plates you want with the same message on them so long as it is clean. In this case you have nothing to worry about. I am going to order two sample for my nephew to be with his name on it and the website didn't tell me i had a limit. Hope this helps you out if you don't mind shelling out 20 bucks a sample plate.

Do you really think they'd change the part that says "Virginia" to say "Beaches"?
Maybe then it wouldn't be an "official" state tag and we could put it on the
front of our cars (like any novelty plate)? I'm sure our Club members would
order several if that were the case...

Hey Des!
I got my plates last week...they say "JM&BBB". I'm going to have the guys sign the back of them this weekend and then put them right back on the car. I think I'll call DMV in a few weeks and report that one "fell off" so I can get a replacement and keep the autographed copy.

Never mind I had a brain fart, I thought you meant get multiple sample plates with your club name on them sorry about the confusion.

I am pretty sure that if the money was right since we are so much in debt here that your club could by the naming rights to the license plates :D Every pro sports stadium has it, why not state license plates lol
