Go grab some frozen limeade from your local grocery store(or I also use the frozen lemonade occaisionally)... add margaritaville tequila and a little triple sec in the blender with ice and blend till smooth. garnish with a slice of lime... watch out though, these are what I like to call silent killers... you can add way too much tequila and it still won't taste bad, meaning that after a few, you'll be on your ass asking what happened.

My best advice is use a good brand of triple sec I use Hirum Walkers
myself but you should be able to smell oranges when you open the bottle
my favorite? fill with ice pour equal parts sour/triplesec/tequila
blend and after blended pour in glass float about 1 tablespoon triple sec
and another of lime juice in each salted glass.

May I suggest you purchase a Buffettnews.com "PHruitcakes in the Kitchen" cookbook? I know there's killer margarita recipes in there, (among other adult beverages and everything else) and proceeds go to help breast cancer research and awareness...

I always substitute an orange liquer in place of the tripplesec. My recipe is like this
Use a Pint Glass
Fill with ice
3 oz teq
1 oz orange liquor
fill up with mix
garnish with lime
salt or not on glass

12 voltRick. You bet, If I cannot get Hirum Walker, I will use an orange
liquor, If I'm rich I'll even use Gran Manier (sp) but I really like the taste
of the Hirum Walker sooo if I can find it I'll jump at the chance.

Orange Curacao is always a good triple sec substitute.

Sour Mix

Here's a good recipe to make your own sour mix to go into Margaritas and other cocktails.
Whisk one egg white in a medium sized bowl until frothy.
Stir in one cup of sugar.
Add two cups of water.
Squeeze enough fresh lemons for two cups of juice.
Add lemon juice.
Stir all ingredients well.
Using a funnel, pour liquid into container large enough to hold one quart.
Seal and store in refrigerator.
Use for recipes calling for sour mix.
Tips:
Discard if not used within four or five days.
Use the freshest ingredients and bottled water for best taste.
Shake container if mixture has set for awhile.

Why not just try Jimmy's perfect margarita recipe. Everybody I've made them for seems to like them.

Forget triple sec and those other orange substitutes. For the best margaritas add Cointreau. You will be able to taste the difference!

That's easy enough to take places like a dancehall, camping, or the beach to mix there.
Or, Jose Cuervo premixed margaritas will do also.

The Cuervo Gold premixed are pretty good. I keep one in the fridge so I can have a margarita any time.
When I make my own, I do it to taste, but my favorite is equal parts white tequila, triple sec (or other orange substitute) and lime juice, then just a splash of OJ. All in a shaker with ice. Shake well, pour into a glass and ad a squeeze of fresh lime.
Works every time and can be made in a large pitcher too.

Carrabba's sells a margarita with Amaretto added. IT's pretty good if you want something a little different.
