The Ophicial "I survived PITTSBURGH"

Post by MelliJellyBean »

Well it's 8:30 a.m. and I am one of those unfortunate few that has to go back to work after one crazy night!

We had a great time. Got there around 3:30 and started making the Margaritas on the back of our truck..... after taking a drink, we realized that the mix ALREADY had tequilla in it, but we kept mixing pretty strong anyway.

The drinks were great, the food was AWESOME (made chicken fajitas!) and the people were the best!

The only downer of the evening for us, was a problem at home with my boyfriend's dog and we thought we would have to leave early, but it ended up being ok! THANK GOD!

Well, I'm weak and still have a headache, but I survived Pittsburgh and its time to go back to work *sigh*

Glad you had a great time! But I am extremely jealous.

He sounded pretty good on RM, but not the same.

Unfortunately for me though, I didn't get to listen to all of the concert. A friend called to let us know that the dog just had a SEIZURE! We were upset and thought we would have to leave. But someone was keeping an eye on the dog. WE end up staying, but we didn't have as much fun as we could have.

I hope someone recorded it!!!

Yay Melli! Glad you had a good time!

We do upside down margaritas with pre mixed mix all the time! No sense in not getting completely lit up!

Our 'group' got there around 4:30. Immediately the beverages were brought out and the food was tossed onto the grill.

The show was so awesome!!!!!!! I swear as soon as Jimmy comes on stage its like I fall into my own little world. Does anyone else feel this way? I was lost in the music, dancing and all that kind of stuff.

This is the funny part. This extremely huge person fell right on top of me.
LOL, he didn't even immediately get up! When he did get up he patted me on the back. I thought my fiance was going to kill him.
And yes he survived his first concert & I am proud to say he is no longer a Buffett virgin.

Hey Melli, I'm so jealous, you're still in the afterglow (good thing to call it!!!!!) And as far as the drink mix thing....been there, DONE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And margaritagrl....yes, I DO get in my own world in a concert. All people around me disappear. I come down to da real world during intermission, then go right back when the Coral Reefers start coming back on stage one at a time. The only time I take notice of the crowd is during "Fins", I make it a point to turn around and watch tens of thousands of arms up in the right/left fins salute!!!!!!!!!! What a sight to behold. I'm all misty now just thinking about it!

hi all! got home around 2:30. i was lucky to have today off, husband had to work (awww).
we got to starlake around 2:00, set up - kiddie pool and everything!!! lots of people stopped to take a "dip" to cool off, one guy even did a belly flop! considering the pool was on gravel and only had about 3 in of water in it. i am not sure how good that would have felt. met some of the bn crowd - so nice! thanks liz for my nametag, it's going on my locker at work, a little memento! the show was wonderful, especially when jimmy had his "senior moment" it was hilarious!

of course a special thanks to reefdiver (and family) for being true parrotheads in the best sense of the word!!!! :P

Yeeehaw!

Just got home about an hour or so ago. I'm yet another one that has to work today. Whee.

Anyway, was fun seeing everyone. Concert was a blast! A lil drama, but that was at the end so it was okay ;).

Got to Starlake about 1:30 yesterday and consumed mass quantities of adult beverages until 8 pm.....probably accounts for the headache today. Only downer was that the blender we had brought kept blowing a fuse....

Wifey's first day of school was today...she wasn't feeling too good this AM. Ah, but wasn't it all worth it.....

There is no better party than a Buffett tailgate...the most friendly and generous people you will ever meet.

What a great time! Here's a few quick items:

1) Big time thanks to the BuffetNews crew for the name tags, jello shots, and all the fun & hospitality. I can't believe we we ended up parked only 2 cars away from you guys! It must be fate...

2) Liz, Talon, & the others I can't remember (Hey, I had an excuse...the same one we all have), it was awesome to meet you all in the flesh.

3) Did anyone get the name of the folks who had the giant multi-person ice sculpture/shot luge that was parked behind us near the edge of the lot? I believe they were some kind of commercial ice business, but I didn't manage to get any contact info. The beer mug made entirely of ice was also one of the coolest things I'd ever seen.

4) Talon- am I mistaken, or is the guy in your avatar Don Marinelli, the head of the drama dept. at CMU?

I survived! Just got home a little while ago after a 2 hour drive that seemed to take FOREVER!!
We had a blast! Glad to meet some more of the Buffettnews Crew. By the way, the nametags are great (thanks again Volcanohead :D ). We had several people stop us and say "hey, you're on Buffettnews, I go there all the time!" I encouraged some lurkers to jump on in and start posting away (Sherry aka Wicket if you are reading this, hope to see some posts from you soon!!)
Thanks to all who signed my ball!! :o  I love looking at those a year later and remembering the people I met.
Anyone who didn't get a chance to meet up with us (Melli, that's twice that we've missed each other now, is it me?? :-? ) I have some BN nametags that I could mail to you if you want to have them, they are really cool and probably won't cost much to send them and they have your names on them, so what will I ever do with them?? I have one for:
MelliJellyBean
margaritagrl26
Stories I Could Tell
ParrotheadDNC
Just let me know and I'll send them!
Once again, Starlake ROCKED! Jimmy was in rare form, especially during his senior moment!!

Pictures coming soon....can't wait to see others' too!
For now, I need a nap!
Oh and by the way, when rednekkPH aka Franc gets back and posts, don't believe a word he says about me!! :D 8)

Well...finally got everything cleaned up and put away till next year. What a great day!!! It was cool to meet some phellow Bn'rs in the flesh too. Craiger--Ro--Talon-Buckeyeparrothead...and everyone else(yes-I'm afraid I forgot a few too)it was cool to meet you guys. The people with the ice luge were right next to us.Had to laugh at them quite a few times.......seems they were intitiating some virgin PH's.The girls were laying on coolers....and the guys were pouring booze into their belly buttons, and then drinking from them. :D The guy who did the ice sculptures was parked on the other side of me. His name is Richard Bubin - Ice creations is the name of his business.I think he had as much fun as we all did....seemed like it anyway.I still have an ice mug that he gave my keet in the deep freeze.I also have some pix of him carving a few...if I can figure out how to do it,I'll post them for everyone to see. (only reason I can remember his name is cuz he gave me his business card so I could email him some pix) Ro...thanks for the kind words.I'm glad that I could help you guys out-it makes being a PH even more worthwhile when you can help out a phellow PH. I only wish Jimmy would go back to doing 2 shows in Pittsburgh again...once is JUST NOT ENOUGH!!!!!! What else is there to say except...GREAT DAY--GREAT TIME--GREAT PEOPLE. Till next year.... :D

bear with me here, it had been a long, hot (think THIRSTY) day and my memory might be a little hazy
he had just finished up "natives are restless" went on to intro next song - "grapefruit/juicyfruit" then realized that wasn't the next song! it wasn't even on the set list! he was laughing and carrying on saying he just had a senior moment. but was like "what the heck" we'll play it anyway.
