Spoke with a guy at the Flamingo (where Mrgaritaville is going to be for those who have been hiding in a closet for a long time) today. The latest news is that they are planning a "soft" opening in mid to late december, with the GRAND opening happening some time in January "around" New Years. Did not sound like it was going to be on New Years. If you didn't already know, JB is suppposed to be playing in Hawaii on I think January 24th, so maybe first or second week of January is what I am thinking.

The "unofficial" rumor is that they are working with JB on plans to have a concert for the grand opening.........couldn't get any other specific details cause it's "unofficial" and still in the works. Will keep you all posted of anything else I hear!

HD thanks for the 411, some things and questions,
It will be easier to get time off, airline tickets (and discounts)
rooms (and discounts) and the strip will not be completly overrun
We can celebrate the New Year at home and than celebrate the first show
of the year both!!! bonus points there. questions (and I know at this time there no answers now) will this be at MGM? that will be tough to pull off
or is it back to closing off the strip and playing to the masses?
Be easier to score tickets for the latter. any way I'm out of luck for
the fall tour soooooo I'm hanging on every word of a winter show.

Buckeye - I love your little gutter person - too cute.

As far as at the MGM or not, I doubt it will be there because it's not the same owners/corporation as the Flamingo. Unless they have some speical financial deal with them.

I have heard a rumor elsewhere that they are talking about closing off the street and having a street festival. That would be cool.
