Is it Really 5 o'clock Somewhere?
An article in the Baltimore Sun: "A worldwide hunt for happy hour" answers the question "Is it 5 o'clock Somewhere?"

Alright! Since when are there 99 seconds in a minute! Does this mean that I'm younger than I thought!Key Lime Lee wrote:Nobody drinks just from 5:00:00 to 5:00:99.
I didn't get how this woman thought that they would have to go to Newfoundland to drink! For one, all they're saying is that it's 5 O'clock somewhere (okay Newfoundland) so they can drink where they are! Besides, if they left Cali at 12:30 for newfoundland they wouldn't get there till at least 10 pm! Then is would already be well past 5 in cali and they could've just stayed! Ahhh... Nonsensical debate! I love it!!

Considering this is my home town "big city" paper this article is not suprising....they have some very bad reporters.

Question: "And now Kenny Chesney has recorded a beach album." Jimmy's Answer: "It's flattering. Some people say I should be p*** off about it but I'm really not. It's the highest form of flattery, and I'm fine with it."

Flying from California to Newfoundland
If they fly on Air Canada from Los Angeles to St. Johns Newfoundland, they could depart about 1:00pm and arrive after 2:00am the next morning. That's quickest I could find on a scheduled flight.
If they fly on a private aircraft and left at 12:30pm and had the range for nonstop (roughly 3300 miles) they would be there closer to midnight.
Either way it's a long plane ride and they would be much better off just hanging out until 5 o'clock sounded on their own clock.

I agree!!!! What an idiot??Key Lime Lee wrote:Candus should be taken out back and bludgeoned with a copy of an artistic license.
They're not saying it's EXACTLY five o'clock somewhere. They're saying it's AT LEAST five o'clock somewhere. Nobody drinks just from 5:00:00 to 5:00:99.
Must have been a slow news day.

If it is 12.30pm in Taiohae, French Polynesia it is 5pm (the previous day) in the Azores. This is probably the most Buffettesque combination.
If it is 12.30pm in the Azores it is 5pm in Kabul (don't want to go there!)
If it is 12.30pm in Kabul it is 5pm in Tokyo (you will need a drink because you're in Kabul!)

To be honest, my partner and I have a clock in our "office" that quit working. He "arbitrarily" set it to read 5 o'clock all the time..
So, yes, even on the "Left Coast" (if you know where Murrieta Fleet Services garage is), it's ALWAYS 5 o'clock SOMEWHERE!!!
Too bad he knows nothing about GOOD Tequila...I gave him a 3 year old Centinela Reposado and he has yet to taste it...Knowing him, he'll probably mix it!
