Cincinnati Fans Lobby for multiple shows

Post by gpaul »

Here is a link to an article in the Cincinnati Post today about the tri-state parrotheads who intend to lobby Buffett again tonight to return to multiple night shows as he used to do.

Not wanting to step on anyone's toes or anything, but why do Cincy fans think they are any better than anyone else? Why can't they travel to the other shows in the area? Big deal Cincy is named in Fins, but actually the lyrics are saying that she left Cinncinati.

Not again!!! Give up already...You're a "middle market" you're lucky to get one in a year where NYC didn't get any shows yet!
Not trying to sound elitist :D , but we are a MUCH bigger market!

Cincy?

Living in New England, I guess I'm biased, but it sounds like the Buffett frenzy has dropped off in Cincy, being the main reason why there's only 1 show now. The frenzy has elevated year after year in New England and shows no sign of slowing down... hence Jimmy being the only sold out shows at the Tweeter Center this year... Hence why it's one of the only places that he does > 1 show. oney.... AKA, the faster they sell out, the more the "perception" grows that they are harder to get and thus, demand increases dramatically and shows sell out faster. A vicious circle... for real fans... and for fans that don't get tickets.... I guess it's truly vicious.

Rather than fighting a losing battle in getting Jimmy to tour more.. he won't. Fight the dramatic increase of tickets that are being allocated to ticket brokers scum    . I haven't checked lately, but they had tickets in the front-middle section, row 2 for both concerts at Tweeter Center, MA for... GULP... $1700+ :o . That is illegal, but Jimmy let's it happen. That is the only battle you could possibly win to make going to see him easier.

A markup of 2600% is larcenous, outrageous, and downright insane.

Ain't gonna happen.

We used to have FIVE shows within 2 hours of here... THREE nights in Boston, one in Hartford and one in NY. Now we're down to two.

Jimmy is playing less. No amount of griping will change that.

My advice to the Cincy fans is to do what most folks here do - leave town if you need more Buffett shows.

Thats for sure he is playing less. He used to play in St Louis and KC, now the closest he comes is Dallas and Chicago

Living in KY, we get no shows and Cincy is the closest venue Jimmy plays. I'll drive to shows too, (I've been to 6 this year) but it would be nice for Jimmy to do a 2nd show in Cincy or at least a Saturday night show. I was a part of the Lights for Two Nights last year and again this year. Our whole PHC was decked out with flashing parrot lights to support the cause Tuesday night.

I'm not complaining by any means, I know that we are lucky to get 1 show in Cincy, but I'm all for a 2nd one if we can get it!! I'm sure other local PH's fell the same way too...

tickets to professional scalpers?

Post by parr0thd51 »

A big part of that problem is TicketMaster (a/k/a TicketBastard in Atlanta). They sell tickets to employees BEFORE the box office opens and most of the employees sell their tickets to the professional scalpers. They can get ROWS of tickets to EVERYTHING -- not just Buffett.

lights for two nights

I took in 100 glow sticks, while giving them out Riverbend security came and took them. They let me have them back after the show. There is nothing posted or listed on the web site forbiding such actions. Their excusse was they don't know what the performers ban untill they get there, so I guess it was Jimmy's idea (NOT).

At the entrance we went in, they weren't letting anyone bring in anything---no beachballs, but you could bring in sharks (?).
I'm glad we weren't on the lawn, because no blankets could be brought in either. The lawn was muddy and the venue had put down mats made out of STRAW---I can't imagine sitting on that :o
Luckily, once the concert started--no one sat!!!
