More on Jimmy's New Album
In today's Boston Globe, Steve Morse interviews Jimmy and gets some details on the new album: "Surprise country hit brings Buffett some extra-happy hours".
He expects to sing duets with Jackson, Strait, and Kenny Chesney (who termed Buffett a "role model" in a Globe interview last year), and also hopes to get Emmylou Harris and Nanci Griffith on the record, which he'll release next year and will probably title "Honky Tonk."
"I also love country songwriters. I've got a Don Gibson song picked and something by Lyle Lovett, of course. And I've got a bunch of Bruce Cockburn things, and I've written some things. So this won't be a stretch for me." He'd love to do Hank Williams's "Hey, Good Lookin' " with Brenda Lee and Cyndi Lauper. "That may only happen in my dreams, but I'm going to try."

[As for his current tour with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett describes it as a "Tiki bar" show. "I'm a Tiki bar fan, and I'm doing the John Hiatt song `Thank God the Tiki Bar Is Open.' I've spent some time out in Hawaii and I'm a child of Tiki culture. So we decided to bring that on the road and evolve it so we could use our dancers, and now we even have a fire twirler," he says. "We're trying to keep the show spiffed up and lively."]
I had no idea Jimmy was a fan! How cool is that?
I really look forward to the new album - I'm a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock-n-roll, and I'm a big bit Buffett!

You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say

You got that right! That'll be awesome. I love Gerge Strait's version of "Stars on the Water." It'll be great to hear the two of them together.DoorNumber3 wrote:folks it does not get ANY cooler than Jimmy Buffett together with George Strait!!!
Today is the tomorrow you spent yesterday worrying about. Was it worth it?
