Thanks! I would have taken more, but things got pretty happening where we were, and that limited my ability to roam around and take more shots :)

Looking forward to next year already (and hoping for a return to Jone Beach)...

Great day on Saturday!

Post by Everlasting Moon »

We arrived about noon, spent about a half hour decorating up the camper and our spot with our tiki theme.

Our daughter went into the package store to get supplies for jello shots to share with everyone. Hanging from the ceiling at the liquor store was an inflatable Corona sea plane. We had been trying to get our hands on one for weeks, even tried e-Bay bidding until the price got too high. She asked the girl at the register if she could buy the plane. She asked the manager. He asked her why she wanted it. For Saturday's Buffett concert was her reply! He had tickets from the liquor distributor for Thursday night but his wife got sick and they couldn't go. He GAVE her the plane, "from one Parrot Head to another," he said. Actually the guys from Buffett News wanted to buy it from her but she said, "sorry, no."

We shared steamed mussels and barbequed ribs with some great neighbors who later shared their filet mignon! Do we know how to eat in the RV area or what??

We had some great neighbors across from us who had Buffett music on a large system playing all day long. You could ask for requests and we took our Alan Jackson CD over and they played 5 O'clock Somewhere to everyone's enjoyment. The entire area was singing along with that one. I tried to get a little line dance going, but I guess there weren't any country fans in the mix!

Lots of people asked to take their pictures with our tiki gods and I think our little bulldog, Maggie, wearing her purple lei had more photos taken of her than we could count. At the end of the day, our neighbor said, You should have asked for a buck a photo. You could have paid for your tickets!" Another bulldog made the video, not our little Maggie, but our goal is to make the video one day.

If we met you, it was great and thanks for stopping by. We hope to see you again. Check out some of our photos at: http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=67b ... 2931efc4fb

Hey Phans...

Great thread, great day!

This phan is back in San Diego, and can not wait for the 9/23 show here, and the 9/27 show...the west coast's version of Great Woods (yes, another show does compare, even the parking lot).

I must say, we must have had 500+ people stop by and welcome me and my small group, as we had "San Diego to Boston" on the side of the Suburban and California plates PIRET40.

For those pholks I met, it was great to meet all of you, except the parrothead from a local PHC with real bad breath who tried to feel up the blonde in my party....(Just kidding!, it was pretty funny actually)

My seats were incredibly close, maybe 30' from Jimmy, much better than Thursday's lawn.

I agree with the thread, if you can swing it, well worth reserved seats to get away from roaming bands of VERY drunk guys doing very drunk things...yes..I am a Pirate at 44....

See you next year!!

It was definitely a great day. The set list was by far the best I've heard him do, I loved the unplugged stuff he did with Mac.

We ended up giving away almost 4 gallons of booze (two gal. of hand grenades and two gallons of margarita's) in the parking lot. We had 300 3oz dixie cups and ran about about 6pm. That doesn't include the shots we gave out using a 2oz syringe and squirting right into the pholks mouths. I know now what a dentist feels like after looking at teeth all day!!

We started the day with about 600 sets of beads and i have maybe 40 sets left. I didn't want any left, but a few bags fell behind the bar and weren't discovered until we were packing up to go in...

The best set up I saw this year were the people who had the Jello shot gun. It was mounted in the back of a pick up truck and they would shoot a jello shot (in its containter) about 15 feet through the air and the girls had to catch it in their shirts and the guys had to catch them in their pants. I'd love to know how they built that...
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

We are the jello shot folks. Not sure if i should be proud of that or not? No really, it was a lot of fun. We went through about 350 jello shots and everyone was a blast. ( ha ha ) . The cops shut me down for a awhile because too many people were showing to much skin. ( Is there such a thing??) My brother in law fired it back up later and the fun continued until the last shot was fired. Something i found out later was that when the cops shut us down and it looked like i was going to be arrested ( for what; they would not tell me ) someone started passing around a hat for donations to bail me out!! Unreal! However, I fully cooperated with the police and followed there request. I'm not there to have or cause a problem and I hope that we did not reflect badly on any of the clubs. It just gradually got bigger and more crazy; wow! did it get nuts!! Don't mean to ramble on but a lot of folks asked me to post something on this forum about "the cannon"!

Saturday at Greatwoods is a day I look forward to each year. The sights and sounds cannot be duplicated anywhere. Between the "Wheel of Phun", the "Show Me" for beads RV or each Parrothead group doing their unique thing, it is something to behold. This year was no exception.

I arrived around 10:30 AM and was set up by 11:15. No sooner was I finished, my neighbor poured us all a margarita! My other neighbor offered the use of his grill anytime. We shared our spatulas, salads and desserts. My point is that this happens every year with different groups. The day is exciting and relaxing and just plain Awesome!!

I found the BN RV next and met several BNers. I had my badge and found it was easy to spot fellow BNers: BottleofRum, SDPirate40, Cuervo, Bixxx, SchoolGirlHeart and so many others. About 10 of us shared a Hurricane shot and toasted to "5 o'clock, HERE!!" Thanks, everyone.

And Bixxx, I told you he would play "School Boy Heart." It was icing on the cake!

Keep the BN flag flying high. It's great to be associated with a fine group of Fruitcakes ( I mean half-baked) people.

Can't believe it's over........livin' on memories of the day. It takes a while to get back on the ground. A dark, rainy morning today and back at work.......reality is setting in. Now what will Jimmy's theme be for next year? :D :D
